[Bug 1773959] Re: High CPU usage by gnome-shell when only running gnome-terminal

2018-09-21 Thread Scott Grant
I'm finding the same symptoms from gnome-shell, relatively high cpu use by
gnome-shell with all extenstions deisabled (if I turn on extensions the cpu
usages is ridiculous high, in the range of 20-50%).
I checked strace as above and am finding the same high number of errors from
the recvmsg call:

Hi,

I had two other freezes after I last emailed you. Both times Desktop would
freeze randomly than monitors would go to power saving mode. Keyboard and mouse
froze too. Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks and Regards

[Bug 1780623] Re: Cannot Open a new Gnome Calculator Window

2018-09-21 Thread jakamo
I suggest raising priority to high, as this bug is very frustrating and
counterproductive.

Yes, I know we can open a new window via the app menu, but that doesn't
help when the calculator is need on a second or third workspace. As it
stands now I have to switch to original workspace open a new calculator
window and fumble around with moving it to the workspace where it's
needed.

[Bug 1789338] Re: Support wide scope searches

2018-09-21 Thread Will Cooke
Hmm. Marking as verification-needed again, because the wide scope
searches seems to be returning some strange results.

Updated Bionic from proposed and have the 3.28.1-0ubuntu4.18.04.4

I clicked install on a snap, then hit cancel at the polkit prompt. It
correctly showed the error message in GNOME Software.

Verification done.

[Bug 1793737] [NEW] App windows no longer auto-expand when dragged to screen-edge

2018-09-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

A minor cosmetic interface "bug" that may or may not be x.org related.
This is regarding the GUI (Gnome issue?) but there is no "package"
related to the GUI.

Ubuntu used to auto-resize a window from top to bottom of the screen
simply by dragging the top of the window to the to of the screen (just
as MS Windows does.)

Ubu 18.04 seems to no longer support this (or the feature is broken.)

To see what I mean, open any app (such as a terminal window) and drag
the top of the window to the top of the screen. This used to also auto-
expand the bottom of the window to the bottom of the screen, but no
longer.

This was particularly useful when viewing "Details" in the "Software
Updater". But now, after resizing the window, the progress bars do not
fill the window to match, remaining in a tiny box with empty space below
it.

Please fix or return the GUI to its previous way of working.

[Bug 1769838] Re: Input source options does not work on Bionic with gnome-flashback

2018-09-21 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Thank you for submitting the SRU! I think I would need a bit more
regression potential analysis for code changes like these. The
regression potential field's purpose is to analyse which parts of the
system can be potentially broken by the SRUed changes, for instance -
seeing the metacity changes modifying parts of focus handling, a guess
for regression potential could be that focus handling in overall could
be broken, etc.

Could you modify the regression potential field with results of such
investigation? Thank you.

[Bug 1789336] Please test proposed package

2018-09-21 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Robert, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-software into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
software/3.28.1-0ubuntu4.18.04.4 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.
