[Bug 1803807] Re: Lock screen doesn't hide the screen contents
I just tested something, and it turns out that the issue was I had the Extensions turned on (even though each extension itself was off, as in the picture). Once I toggled that off, the issue resolved itself and now locking appears to work perfectly. Not sure why having extensions on would cause this behavior, though. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2018-11-19 00-09-47.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1803807/+attachment/5214087/+files/Screenshot%20from%202018-11-19%2000-09-47.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1803807 Title: Lock screen doesn't hide the screen contents To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1803807/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1762952] Re: Alternative shortcut for layout switching Alt+Shift unexpectedly set by default
This bug made using emacs and IntelliJ Idea a nuisance. I found a simple workaround. 0 =1= You can verify how ALT and SHIFT are not being detected simultaneously by running $ xkbwatch Notice how the blinky lights change for ALT and for SHIFT but not for both at the same time. =2= $ setxkbmap -query rules: evdev model: pc105 layout: us,us,us variant:,intl, options:grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll THIS IS THE PROBLEM =3= We will now unset ALT-SHIFT toggle. $ setxkbmap -option -option grp_led:scroll ^^^ DELIBERATELY EMPTY The first empty -option erases all options, the second one just carries over an option we want to keep. Additional -option clauses can preserve other preexisting options. I can still change to next/previous input source with whatever is configured in Settings/Keyboard/Typing =4= Do step =2= again and notice how ALT and SHIFT now play together simultaneously. [Bug 1803807] Re: Lock screen doesn't work in 18.10
Thanks for your response. Sorry for not seeing the existing bug reports. When I lock once, the ui freezes completely and is still visible. However, on the top bar (sorry, not sure what the specific terms are), the "Activities" button, any open application indicators (the things with the icons and the application name in the top bar), and the date/time disappear, but the keyboard language indicator and other indicators on the top right remain visible. It is still possible to click on the keyboard indicator or top right menu to bring them up, but at that point they can no longer be interacted with. The top right menu does show a pause button instead of the settings/lock/power button. Pressing lock a second time locks the screen as normal. This morning, I tried locking the screen by pressing the button itself instead of using the keyboard shortcut, and that worked the first time, but displayed the behavior described above the second time. I only have gnome-tweaks installed that I know of (for disabling mouse acceleration). In the extensions tab, both items (kstatusnotifieritem and ubuntu dock) were disabled. Please let me know if I can provide any more information to help resolve this, or if this was unclear. I would attach pictures, but PrtSc doesn't do anything after pressing lock the first time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1803807 Title: Lock screen doesn't work in 18.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1803807/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

On Bionic, the default Gnome 3 session does handle the signal and logs the user off to GDM, but GDM does not tell that shutdown is pending and the user may think that she/he can log in again or should to something to really start the shutdown. Sorry, Paul, but I have lost my faith in the idea of volunteer support without strict oversight (which I gather is how things are working here). There have been too many problem that I felt were important that were graded low importance or even placed on the wishlist. I get the strong impression that this is the consequence of essentially a CLI mindset while the rest of the world is GUI. I plan to one day write to Canonical about this, but I have other priorities. [Bug 1800749] Re: Ubuntu 18.10 doesn't like fullscreen mode for sauerbraten(game)
It appears that the xinput devices(keyboard/mouse) are being hijacked by desktop? As long as there is user input(keyboard/mouse activity) at least once second within Sauerbraten, everything works as expected in Ubuntu 18.10. Further bug info: I noticed that if you're moving forward with the 'w' key(with no mouse activity), and jump(press 'spacebar') while keeping the 'w' key pressed, the bug returns about a second later. The forward movement stops and the rogue mouse pointer returns to flickering, as if there is no user activity, or as if the user input activity has been cleared/reset. ***If you _don't_ jump while moving forward, the forward movement continues as expected and the rogue mouse pointer stays away. When there is no user input/activity for about 1 second, the flickering mouse pointer returns. Again, everything works as expected in Ubuntu 18.04. Thanks! PS. Sorting straces of Sauerbraten seem show a similar number of epoll calls as flickers of the rogue mouse pointer, but that was a hack at trouble-shooting and may be unrelated.
