[Bug 1811599] Re: When booting, the computer hangs at a purple screen and no login prompt is ever displayed

2019-01-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
That boot seems to be starting from 11 Jan. Does it also include debug
enabled per comment #2?

Regardless, it's a little too old and unnecessarily large. Please follow
the steps in comment #2 more carefully and do it again.

[Bug 1811808] Re: Tearing and/or flickering when using Intel graphics

2019-01-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the detailed bug report. That jagged black tearing is the
result of unsynchronized nonlinear buffers being used on screen.

Can you please try these in order?

1. Run 'lscpu' and send us the output.

2. Run: sudo apt install vainfo

3. Run 'vainfo' and send us the output.

4. Try this as a workaround:
   sudo apt remove gstreamer1.0-vaapi

[Bug 1811668] Re: oem-config fails on Nvidia GPU machine on 18.04.1

2019-01-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
> gnome-shell[30907]: Failed to create backend: No resources

I don't think that's an error. It's just telling you the Nvidia driver
doesn't support Wayland (which always gets tried first). In theory gdm3
is then meant to drop back to Xorg in this case (as Seb says). But some
Nvidia users (including Laney) have reported that this fallback doesn't
work for them:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bugs?field.tag=nvidia

So this bug is possibly a duplicate of one of those.

Please try this as a workaround: edit /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and
uncomment the line:

   #WaylandEnable=false

Reboot, and if that fixes the problem then it appears to be a duplicate
of bug 1798790.

[Bug 1810929] Re: totem crashed with SIGSEGV in_cogl_context_get_gl_extensions() from _cogl_driver_update_features() from _cogl_winsys_context_init()

2019-01-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. That confirms you have Nvidia hardware and the Nvidia driver:

03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [GeForce 210] (rev
a2)
Subsystem: ZOTAC International (MCO) Ltd. GT218 [GeForce 210]
Kernel driver in use: nvidia
Kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau, nvidia

Although the nature of the crash (comment #5) makes me think this is
either an Nvidia driver bug (or faulty installation), or a cogl bug.

[Bug 1807056] Re: Occasional Keyboard freeze

2019-01-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. That's the answer to "caused by something that most other people
don't have". Most Ubuntu users only encounter the community theme (now
known as Yaru) where it is included in Ubuntu 18.10 and later.

I wonder - have you made any other changes to gnome-shell that other
users typically wouldn't have?

So gnome-shell in disco needs changing to remove the above gnome-shell

[ Test case ]

- Run `journalctl -ef -b0 /usr/bin/gnome-shell`
- Scroll with the mouse over the volume indicator

[Bug 1811900] [NEW] SRU 3.28 latest git to bionic

2019-01-15 Thread Treviño
Public bug reported:

[ Description ]

3.28 gnome git branch has various upstream approved fixes for many
months now, but no release has been done yet, thus we're releasing a git
snapshot of the latest approved fixes.

[ QA ]

Run Ubuntu session, expect the shell to work normally with various
setups

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/GNOME

[ Regresison potential ]

Many patches we were including already have been included in upstream
git now, various optimizations to clutter actors could cause drawing
issues.

[Bug 1754864] Re: Flatpak related refs are not installed when using GNOME Software on Ubuntu 18.04

2019-01-15 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thanks, for the record, I previously discussed this issue with upstream
and about them including such a change in a point release. But they
didn't want to commit to making and supporting major changes to the old
flatpak plugin (from gnome-software 3.30 the plugin was rewritten and
the issue doesn't occur). I personally don't have any knowledge of the
gnome-software code base, so would not feel confident in fixing the code
and ensuring it doesn't break anything else.

As stated before, if anyone with knowledge is able to either get a merge
approved by upstream for the 3.28 series or has enough knowledge of the
code base to be confident in their changes, I would be happy in helping
with the SRU verification part of the process.

Re: [Bug 293832] Re: printer prints page at wrong position, page cut

2019-01-15 Thread draco
You should be able to change the default settings with lpoptions command :
https://www.cups.org/doc/man-lpoptions.html?TOPIC=Man+Pages

Take care of the default page format first, and check also the page
dimension, it could be wrong for this format.

[Bug 1726688] Re: totem media player in the Ubuntu dock right click menu does not work, rewind does not work, nor full screen works

2019-01-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Simone, thank you very much for submitting your patch and helping to
make Ubuntu better.

I adjusted your patch a bit (modified the existing patch without
renaming it and adding a separate patch for the mute action). I uploaded
your work to Ubuntu 19.04, the current development release and I
uploaded it as Stable Release Update (SRU) candidates for Ubuntu 18.10
18.04 LTS.

The SRUs will need to be manually approved a member of the SRU team
before they will be built and made available so that testers can verify
that the proposed updates fix this bug.

You can read more about this process at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

I am unsubscribing ubuntu-sponsors now. Feel free to resubscribe if you
have anything else that needs sponsoring.
