[Bug 1850627] Re: Right click happens automatically, disturbs work

2019-10-30 Thread Dilip
M105 mouse has B100 written on it. So, I guess both are the same. I ran
the command with the mouse which is having the issue.

I used Wayland a couple of months back due to curiosity. The main
problem I had was VLC crashing without any reason. I will try to find
the bug ID if possible. I am not sure when I will have free time to do
that.

[Bug 1850627] Re: Right click happens automatically, disturbs work

2019-10-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It sounds like you're saying the bug only occurs with the B100 mouse and
not the current M105 mouse. Is that right?

Also, if you encounter crashes with Wayland then those are preventing us
from further understanding this bug so we also need to understand the
crashes. If you have a current bug ID for the crashes then please
mention it. If you don't then please follow these instructions to report
the Wayland crashes:

2019-10-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

Since that gdm package from Pop!OS is not part of Ubuntu we can't
support it here. But just in case the problem is an Ubuntu bug please
try booting with vanilla Ubuntu 18.04:

http://releases.ubuntu.com/18.04/

If you need to install the OS in order to reproduce the bug then you
should be able to do that on a second USB stick.

[Bug 1850646] Re: Sound output device switched on DP/MST connect

2019-10-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Switching on connect is an intentional design choice for Ubuntu. If you
would like to disable it then please just comment out this line:

  load-module module-switch-on-connect

in /etc/pulse/default.pa

So this isn't a bug, but it does seem to overlap with bug 1847570 so
please see that too.

(I'm not sure if gnome-settings-daemon is the right product for this

I have things so that pressing ShiftL+ShiftR together will change my
keyboard layout.

This works fine. However, when I press that key combination, the
current window appears to lose focus and regain it instantly. This is a
problem with buggy toolkits (cough) that do things like committing or
canceling text entries when they lose/gain focus. For example,
GtkTreeView will cancel editing, and Firefox will do funny things
depending on which web page has entry widgets in it.

This didn't seem to happen a few Gnome versions ago (maybe it was caused
by the switch to ibus?).

Here is the xev log for what it's worth. After the initial ShiftL

Isn't that fixed already in GNOME 3.8?

No it can't be "fixed" unfortunately, it's how X grabs work.

And that should be fixed, it's useful for window or widget to do
something on focus loss and it's very common to type a message in

Thanks for the bug report.

Please:

1. Tell us the kind of mouse it is and how it is connected.

2. Run 'lsusb' and attach the output here.

3. Try a different mouse if you can.

4. Tell us if the bug occurs in both 'Ubuntu' and 'Ubuntu on Wayland',

Here are the steps to recreate the issue:
The blank screen issue can be recreated very easily:

Power on system - NOT LIVE DISK.
It gets to the ubuntu login screen.
Do NOT login and stay at this screen until the screen goes blank.
try to wake screen and unable to.
only course of action here is to hard power off.

I also removed solaar, which had an indicator (but I think it's showing
through app-indicators), with no luck.

I also tried changing the screen configuration to laptop on the left,
monitor on the right, and the bug is still present.

[Bug 1850201] Re: memory usage is growing over time

2019-10-30 Thread Balazs Pere
The test system was 19.10 in virtualbox. I removed almost every
extensions, except for the built in ones (ubuntu dock, ubuntu
appindicator, etc.). Gnome-shell uses ~200kB at the beginning. If I lock
the screen and unlock it, the memory usage jumps to ~210kB. Repeatedly
doing this, the memory usage is increasing. Similarly, suspending the
system and wakeing it up also cause a jump in the memory usage, which
remains there permanently. After manually reset gnome-shell (Alt+F2 r)
the memory usage falls back to ~200kB.

What is the theoretical memory usage of gnome-shell? When I reset it,
the memory usage is ~90kB for a couple of second, and it grows back to
~200kB. It already happened that the memory usage at the beginning of
the gnome session was very low (~80kB), and grew very slowly (couple of
minutes with countinuous work, launching programs, browsering the web)
until it reached the approx. 200kB usage. It is very suspecious.

[Bug 1850664] Re: setting-window size overflow

2019-10-30 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I see the same, and my understanding is that it's intentional when the
screen resolution is not high enough to show the whole window. That's
why there is a scrollbar, so you can scroll to the menu items at the
bottom of the list.

Is there anything the current design prevents you from accessing?

2019-10-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. It's a consequence of the number of
panels and the way they are categorized, sort of known but also could be
considered as a design issue. It would be nice if they would fit on the
screen even for small vertical resolutions though

[Bug 1850707] [NEW] "Data source "u...@gmail.com" does not support OAuth 2.0 authentication" shown each time Evolution starts

2019-10-30 Thread Nicholas Harvey
Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu 19.10 Gnome fully patched.
MY GMail account is added via Gnome Online Accounts, with just Mail, Contacts
and Calendar selected.
Then, when I launch Evolution. I see an error displayed each time stating "Data
source "u...@gmail.com" does not support OAuth 2.0 authentication".

I am not sure whether two-factor authentication matters, but I have
tried disabling and re-enabling it and it has made no difference.

I can duplicate this on two separate installations so I assume this
problem could be widespread.

Thanks

It is valuable if it's pointing to a bug in the distribution, for
example a missing dependency on a package providing a schema.

If this, 'gsettings abort when schemas/keys are missing', is a class of
crash which is not valuable can we prevent reporting them in the apport

[Bug 1850664] [NEW] setting-window size overflow

2019-10-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

please refer to the screenshot.

did you realize the window length is flowing below the visible screen
area in my laptop? this is happening in my newly installed ubuntu 19.10
system unlike all earlier versions from 9.04 to 19.04.

Is this according to the plan or just a mistake?

[Bug 1850646] [NEW] Sound output device switched on DP/MST connect

2019-10-30 Thread John
Public bug reported:

1. Starting with sound output set to line-out with DP/MST/HDMI monitor
connected.
2. Disconnect monitor. Sound output remains on line-out. Music continues
playing etc.
3. Re-connect monitor. Music/sound stops being produced. Sound output device is
switched to HDMI/Display Port 6 device.

Sound output device should remain on user-selected device unless user
interactively changes the output device. Or add configurable option for
"sound output device auto switching".

2019-10-30 Thread Alberto Milone
Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the problem on my system, running the

What I don't see on my system is the following error from logind:

Compare this from Martin's journald log:

[Bug 1850627] [NEW] Right click happens automatically, disturbs work

2019-10-30 Thread Dilip
Public bug reported:

Since the last 3-4 days, the right click happens all by itself.
Sometimes replacing the left click, while working in Inkscape or
handling files on desktop for a fully updated 18.04. It is so annoying
and good enough to destroy the work we are doing. I manually cleaned my
mouse just in case hardware is causing the issue

I tried using Cinnamon DE. There was no such issue in it.

It would be great if there could be a fix. Thanks.

[Bug 1850621] [NEW] zoom sets wrong window size in fullscreen mode

2019-10-30 Thread jnns
Public bug reported:

Using eoan 19.10 and wayland and the following package versions

* gnome-shell 3.34.1ubuntu1
* gnome-terminal 3.34.0-1ubuntu2
* mutter 3.34.1-1ubuntu1
* libmutter-5-0 3.34.1-1ubuntu1

How to reproduce:

* I open up gnome-terminal and switch to fullscreen (F11).
* Then I decrease font-size / zoom (CTRL+-).
* The gnome-terminal window no longer fills the display. The window size is
reduced proportionally to the reduction in font size.

The same applies for zooming in / increasing font size. The window is
then larger than the display and the cursor is outside of the viewport.

What I expect:

* No matter the font size, the gnome-terminal window should cover the
whole display (not more, not less) as long as gnome-terminal is in
fullscreen mode.

As far as I remember, this was working before in Ubuntu 19.04 disco.

[Bug 1850615] Re: gnome-shell hardlocks under load

2019-10-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This sounds suspicious:
5 Thread 0x7f7432336700 (LWP 26358) "gnome-s:disk$0"

Separately, you seem to have a number of extensions installed:

'remmina-search-provi...@alexmurray.github.com'
'alt-tab-worksp...@kwalo.net'
'openweather-extens...@jenslody.de'
'un...@hardpixel.eu'
'gsconn...@andyholmes.github.io'
'cpuf...@zdyb.tk'
'cpufreq@konkor'
'cpupo...@mko-sl.de'
'drive-m...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com'

Although I mostly suspect the last one, please uninstall all of them and
see if that solves the problem. You will need to uninstall them all and
not just disable them because extensions can still interfere when
installed and disabled. We need to do this because so many bugs are
caused by extensions. Eliminating them very often solves the problem.

[Bug 1850103] Re: gnome-tweak-tool window keeps flickering on cursor hovering [Intel Penryn: Core 2 T6600]

2019-10-30 Thread tojonuko.khad...@gmail.com
yeah, i tried both the condition and yes the problem is equally
persistent in both the cases. moreover what i realized is when the mouse
hovers over one of the menus in gnome tweak box, it assumes it as the
click input and keep dancing between the menu pressed and non pressed
situation.

a sort of misinterpreted mouse input scenario in that particular
application.

hope this be solved.

Since Nautilus isn't used in newer Ubuntu versions this bug will
probably not be fixed.

[Bug 1849405] Re: Repeated keypresses from bluetooth keyboard (in Wayland sessions only)

2019-10-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
BTW, please log a new bug about the screen tearing in Xorg by:

 1. Logging into 'Ubuntu' (Xorg)
 2. Opening a Terminal and run:

ubuntu-bug mutter

[Bug 1849405] Re: Repeated keypresses from bluetooth keyboard

2019-10-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes, kind of. I do know mutter's occasional stutters and pauses do cause
problems for libinput in Wayland, and libinput likes to log messages
warning about it. It seems likely the problem is in Mutter.

After restarting, it seems that the problem doesn't persist anymore. I
think you can close this.

Thanks

[Bug 1849405] Re: Repeated keypresses from bluetooth keyboard

2019-10-30 Thread Matt Austin
I've now been using an Xorg session rather than Wayland and haven't seen
the repeated keys issue. I do get some very nasty screen tearing when
scrolling (e.g. websites) on Xorg however, so ideally I'd like to
continue using Wayland.

Does that mean that this is likely a mutter bug, rather than bluez?
