[Bug 1861340] Re: All bitmap fonts no longer visible after upgrade 19.10 -> Focal (development)

2020-02-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The status is just a mapping launchpad does from the gitlab closed
state, if you look carrefully you will notice that the Ubuntu line is
set as 'triaged'. I'm not sure we want to stay on an older serie for the
LTS only to workaround that issue though...

[Bug 1861340] Re: All bitmap fonts no longer visible after upgrade 19.10 -> Focal (development)

2020-02-02 Thread Jonathan Hartley
I don't think 'fix released' is the right status.

Could Focal use a slightly older version of Pango, to keep bitmap fonts
working for another 6 months, hoping it becomes clearer how to continue
supporting them going forward?

[Bug 1825626] Re: nvLock: client timed out, taking the lock

2020-02-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This sounds like the Nvidia driver not being patient enough to cope with
gnome-shell's slowness. We have the same kind of issue with libinput
too. But it is improving with each gnome-shell release...

Can anyone identify a particular app that causes the problem more often
than others?

[Bug 1842167] Re: Default list of stations entry for "WSUM 91.7 FM (University of Wisconsin) has an outdated URL

2020-02-02 Thread Mathew Hodson
rhythmbox (3.4.4-1ubuntu1) focal; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/restore-traditional-menubar.patch:
- removed, the menu code the change was built on was dropped
and we removed similar patches from other applications with GNOME
  * Merge with Debian. Remaining changes:
+ Split out zeitgeist plugin
+ debian/control.in:
  - Allow unity-control-center as alternate dependency
  - Suggest instead of recommend gst-plugins-ugly
  - Suggest rhythmbox-plugin-zeitgeist
  - Recommends rhythmbox-plugin-alternative-toolbar. It improves the
user interface and makes it fit better with GNOME.
+ debian/rhythmbox-plugins.install, debian/control{,.in}: Drop context
plugin - it's mostly broken and would need porting to webkit2 anyway.
+ debian/patches/02_use_escaped_podcast_uri.patch
  - Handle podcasts that have sound files with the same basename
+ debian/patches/03_magnatune_partner.patch:
  - Change magnatune partner ID to 'ubuntu'.
+ debian/patches/05_hide_on_quit.patch
  - Hide (not quit) if RB is playing when closed.
+ debian/patches/07_quicklists.patch
  - Add quicklists.
+ debian/patches/08_stop_quit.patch:
  - Add a "Stop & Quit"-option to the quickmenu (via .desktop)
  - Add new symbol to librhythmbox-core10.symbols
+ debian/patches/make-shuffle-repeat-proper-toggle-actions.patch,
  debian/patches/restore-traditional-menubar.patch: Add a traditional
menubar back when we want it, and fix the shuffle/repeat actions so
  they work correctly there.
+ debian/patches/0002-grilo-container-max-tracks.patch:
  increase CONTAINER_MAX_TRACKS to 15000
+ debian/patches/10_encoding_use_ubuntu_profiles.patch, debian/*.prs,
  debian/rhythmbox-data.install:
  - Add Ubuntu encoding presets and use them by default.
+ debian/source_rhythmbox.py: Add an apport hook.
+ Add breaks/replaces since we moved plugins from rhythmbox and rhythmbox-
  plugins-magnatune back to rhythmbox-plugins

[Bug 1861631] Re: "The AppStream system cache was updated, but some components were ignored. Refer to the verbose log for more information."

2020-02-02 Thread Matthias Klumpp
This error message is shown not to alert users, but rather make users report
these issues to the distributor, as this particular issue means the distributor
has a mistake in their metadata somewhere.
In this case it's not Ubuntu's fault directly, but rather GNOME Software
injecting invalid metadata.
This is fixed upstream with commit
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/commit/7c1620990b6361fac370b76c9828f8f77ff77a72
which should land in the next Ubuntu release naturally (but may be
cherry-picked to make this issue go away even sooner).

2020-02-02 Thread Jonathan Kamens
Public bug reported:

`apt-get update` and the nightly `apticron --cron` job are reporting:

"The AppStream system cache was updated, but some components were
ignored. Refer to the verbose log for more information."

This is pretty much meaningless to most people who have no idea what
AppStream is and what "verbose log" is being referred to. I dug around
and managed to discover `appstreamcli refresh-cache --force --verbose`,
whose output is attached.

I don't know what the "bad" output is or how to fix it. All I know is
that I hope Focal isn't going to be generating this message when it
ships, because it isn't going to make sense to most people and most
people won't know how to fix it and it causes annoying emails from
apticron every night.

[Bug 1861609] [NEW] login impossible from GUI on fresh Ubuntu 20.04 install

2020-02-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I installed the latest Ubuntu 20.04 daily today (Feb. 2, 2020). During
the installation I created a user "minime". After reboot the login
screen is displayed. However, after entering the credentials and logging
in, the login screen just reappears. There are no error messages or
anything.

When I switch to the console, I can perform the login on the console.

I hope the attached copy of the syslog file will help to find the issue.
My last failed login attempt was around "Feb 2 14:12:50".

[Bug 1580451] Re: mutter does not remember position of extra displays

2020-02-02 Thread Bryce Harrington
I am not reproducing this bug on latest stable mutter.

mutter:
  Installed: 3.34.3-1ubuntu1
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller:
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cape Verde PRO [Radeon HD 7750/8740 /
R7 250E] (rev 87)

I'm running a 6-head system on focal-devel, with gnome-shell/mutter and
a radeon card. I do have troubles getting all the monitors working
properly, and invariably am having to rejigger the positions of the
extra screens. However, merely powering the monitor on and off does not
trigger this behavior, at least not for me.

[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10

2020-02-02 Thread joshua pritikin
I'm running Eoan. After studying the comments here, I installed
libgtk-3-0 from focal (https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/libgtk-3-0).
This forced me to upgrade CUPS. I'm not sure if printing still works,
but the cut/copy/paste issue appears to be resolved.
