[Bug 1876415] Re: [nvidia+modeset] Fonts in the GNOME shell not shown.

2020-05-08 Thread Cornelius Huber
I am having this bug again right now. You advised me in my other bug report to
post a file with the contents of journalctl -b0 if this bug reappears, since I
was told both are related, I was wondering if the same applies for this one
here. Link to other bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-440/+bug/1875957

One thing to note: I would prefer to send the file via Mail, if possible.

[Bug 1844808] Re: Can't delete file from desktop by clicking it and hitting delete key

2020-05-08 Thread Adam Dingle
This bug still exists in Ubuntu 20.04. It's particularly insidious
because it's easy to delete a file by mistake: if a Nautilus window has
focus and you click on a desktop icon and press the Delete key, then
Nautilus will delete the file (which you might or might not notice).

package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this
the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please
report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!

On a fresh Ubuntu installation, apt-config-icons isn't installed by
default (at least it wasn't when I installed a fresh Ubuntu yesterday,
until I replaced the snap-store with the packaged gnome-software). So
new users who aren't upgrading from a previous Ubuntu version will still
have much less icons than people who get Focal by upgrading from an
older Ubuntu release.

Is there anything in particular to test?

Something I noticed in this branch (a nitpick and, I guess, completely
unrelated): the window control icons (minimize, maximize, close) seems
to be bolder that before and than any other app using Yaru.

CORRECTION (to above):

It says "FAILED TO OPEN FOLDER" not "failed to send".

Then followed by "Error performing TLS handshake: Internal error in
memory allocation" but only when trying to access ATT.NET mail." (at
least for now)

[Bug 1877135] Re: Failed to start Virtual filesystem service - Apple File Conduit monitor [libusbmuxd.so.4 not found]

2020-05-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The problem is
 undefined symbol: usbmuxd_connect (/usr/local/lib/libimobiledevice.so.6)

Which is a local 'make install type' installation taking over the Ubuntu
version, if you remove that copy things should work better (check for
other outdated libraries in the same directory)

Re: [Bug 1866625] Re: OverflowError: With Python 3 Gtk.ListStore only accepts 32 Bit Integers.

2020-05-08 Thread Wolf Pichler
It should indeed be done like this:

 import gi
 gi.require_version('Gtk', '3.0')
 from gi.repository import Gtk

 from gi.repository import GObject

 mystore = Gtk.ListStore(GObject.TYPE_UINT64)
 mystore.insert_with_valuesv(-1, [1], [GObject.Value(GObject.TYPE_UINT64,
1330400507426)])

###

I was completely unaware of that possibility because the source of my
GTK knowlege is

https://lazka.github.io/pgi-
docs/#Gtk-3.0/classes/ListStore.html#Gtk.ListStore.set_column_types

When checking out the available types one ends up here:

https://lazka.github.io/pgi-
docs/#GObject-2.0/classes/GType.html#GObject.GType

Which does not ring any bell ...

So I did it like in

https://python-gtk-3-tutorial.readthedocs.io/en/latest/treeview.html
#the-model

where the Python types are used.

###

With the knowlege I gained through this FR it was possible to find this:

GObject Built-in Type Constants
The Built-in Type constants specify the pre-defined types used by gobject.

https://developer.gnome.org/pygobject/stable/gobject-constants.html
#gobject-type-constants

which is quite useful.

###

Thanks!

[Bug 1877589] [NEW] Wayland windows does not redraw itself

2020-05-08 Thread Ben Aceler
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure, if it is not a bug of certain Wayland applications.

Under Ubuntu 20.04, Gnome 3.36, some Wayland-native applications, namely
Audacity(2.3.3) and Firefox (76.0), does not redraw themselves unless I
change their size, or switch to another window or overview. For example,
audacity does not redraw current position marker, and I need to click
with a mouse, or resize the window to see it. Firefox sometimes just
freeze, until I click or until I resize its window, or I switch to
overview.

What kind of trace shoud I perform to obtain more information?

[Bug 1877577] [NEW] Multi-monitor not behaving correctly when one display turned off

2020-05-08 Thread Allan
Public bug reported:

The release is 20.04.
The gnome-session version is 3.36.0-2ubuntu1.

What is expected:
1. When either monitor is turned off, the monitor that is still on becomes the
only monitor.
2. The mouse should work.

What happens:
1. When the primary monitor is turned off only, the space is not updated.
2. When the non-primary monitor is turned off only, the mouse is frozen. This
is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1709159

Long version:
I have two identical monitors hooked up on HDMI.
Let's call them #1 and #2, with #1 left of #2. #1 is primary.

Case 1: Turn off #1 (the primary), leaving #2 on:
The display has not been updated to detect the turned off monitor. The mouse
can move around on #2, including going to the #1 space even though #1 is turned
off.

When #1 is turned back on, everything works fine too.

Case 2: Turn off #2 (the non-primary) leaving #1 on:
The display *has* been updated to detect the turned off monitor. The mouse
cannot move at all, even though the cursor is visible on #1.
This is

When #2 is turned back on, there is another display update (another
flicker, plus a Pulseaudio notification of new sink detected since the
monitor has built-in speakers).

Other notes:
My card is AMD RX480. Another user in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1709159 is also
using AMDGPU.

[Bug 1877552] Re: gnome-system-monitor crashes

2020-05-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1877547] [NEW] Dead cursor on 125% scaling on x11

2020-05-08 Thread Liam Demafelix
Public bug reported:

Opening a bug for this since all other bugs that reported this have been
closed.

On an X11 session, a dead secondary mouse is displayed when the scaling
for a user session has been set to 125% (fractional scaling).
Presumably, the dead cursor is a left-over from the login screen with
100% scaling.

I've attached a photo for reference. Screen capturing/print screen
functionality does not capture the dead cursor.

Going back to 100% after logging in, then reverting to 125% removes the
dead cursor.

[Bug 1877108] Re: Ubuntu Dock appears on the display opposite to that indicated on Appearance tab

2020-05-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Daniel, the other issue uou mentioned is different, it's the handling of
what 'left' means in a RTL locale

The bug here is about the screen logic being inverted, if you pick to
display the launcher on the display 1 it's shown on display 2 (same in
reverse)

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2020-05-08 Thread Philipp
Here is my journal -f output when the bug happens.

The moment it freezes:
JS ERROR: Error: incorrect grab helper pop

Every (no longer working) click after the freeze will result in this message:
JS ERROR: TypeError: this._grabStack[i] is undefined

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2020-05-08 Thread Philipp
I can easily reproduce this bug on Ubuntu 20.04 with right and left clicking on
the desktop to open the context menu alot. On many different machines and
virtual machines.
This does NOT happen for me when gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons is
deactivated.
On some machines I have to explicitly do the desktop context menu thing to
force it (otherwise it will not happen) on some machines it randomly happens
even if I do not click on the desktop. The latter is pretty annoying.

** Attachment added: "An easy way to reproduce this, works every time on many
machines. Sometimes takes a bit longer but it will happen."

[Bug 1866194] Re: External audio device shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop speaker, or none at all.

2020-05-08 Thread Claudio Nasuti
The same bug affect my system xubuntu 20.04 over a DELL Precision 7510.

Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Product Name: Precision 7510
Product Version:
Firmware Version: 1.16.3
Board Vendor: Dell Inc.
Board Name:02H5GH

Kernel release:5.4.0-29-generic
Operating System: GNU/Linux
Architecture: x86_64
Processor: x86_64
SMP Enabled: Yes

snd_hda_intel
snd_hda_intel

Pulseaudio:
  Installed - Yes (/usr/bin/pulseaudio)
  Running - Yes

 0 [PCH]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH
HDA Intel PCH at 0xdfe48000 irq 141
 1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xdf08 irq 17

With nominal installation fully updated when plugged-in any headphone no
sound at all.

After the update of pulseaudio package as provided by
https://launchpad.net/~kaihengfeng/+archive/ubuntu/fix-lp1869819

inserting a cheap no name headphone I'm able to hear the sound even if a rustle
in background is present.
Inserting a SADES game headset no sound only distorted noise is audible.
To be noted that the pulsaudio mixer seems to work perfectly, having the
headphone jack inserted
I'm able to move the output sound to laptop speakers and move back but without
fixing the problem.

Last but not least the same configuration with xubuntu 16.04 worked
perfectly.
