Thank you for your bug report, what's the output of

$ gsettings get org.gnome.rhythmbox.plugins active-plugins

Could you trigger the issue and add your 'journalctl -b 0' log to the

[Bug 1865166] Re: undefined symbol: gegl_rectangle_subtract

2020-05-20 Thread Heather Ellsworth
In case anyone else hits this, perhaps this will help...

Another user ran into this very issue on a Debian system but removing
gimp and reinstalling didn't fix the issue.

In order to find the conflicting library, the user removed gimp and it's
dependencies then searched for any remaining libraries to manually
remove:

$ sudo apt-get remove --purge gimp
$ sudo find / -iname "*babl*"
$ sudo find / -iname "*gegl*"
$ sudo find / -iname "*gimp*"

Remove any lingering libraries before re-installing gimp.

[Bug 1879758] [NEW] Future all-day events from Google calendar display on all days in month view

2020-05-20 Thread Timur Tabi
Public bug reported:

I have a Google calendar defined. In the Gnome calendar app, events
that:

1) Are in the future
2) Are all-day events
3) Are recurring (every month, every year, etc)

Only in the month view, these events display on every day in the month.
This doesn't happen in the week view.

I've attached a screen shot. The event "Nezahat yenge's birthday" is
supposed to occur only on June 1st, but in the Month view, it occurs
everyday, as an event that spans an entire week all month long. This
only occurs if the event is visible, so we see this effect only on May
and June, not any other month. It also happens in May and June of 2021
and any other year.

Re: [Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) with LibreOffice is broken in Ubuntu 19.10 & 20.04 (see comment 93)

2020-05-20 Thread ethanay
Tim, I don't know, I am just "another user"

But I appreciate you testing! For me, the pattern has always been quite
consistent for the first cut/copy to fail, and so is fairly easy for me to
test.

The different symptoms are curious, with it being very predictable for some
and random for others!

It is also interesting to me that the problem appears only in copying to
clipboard from some programs but not others.

Lastly, it is interesting that it was fixed first in some programs (eg for
me, LO calc) before others (LO Writer).

I don't know enough about how different sources for clipboard data interact
with the clipboard manager, but it leads me to believe there is actually
more than one clipboard bug. If so, it will take users being vigilant to
collect log and other debug info as they try to reproduce the more
intermittent symptoms, and submit in a different report.

[Bug 1878490] Re: Big delay between pressing the applications grid icon in dock and the start of the spring animation

2020-05-20 Thread Nicolás Abel Carbone
Sorry for the delay.

I disabled all extensions but ubuntu-dock (I need to be able to click on
the grid apps icon to trigger the bug). The delay it still there. Also,
it seems to happen under X11 and under Wayland.

Just to be clear: the multi-second delay happens very few times, and may be
related to another process eating CPU time and/or I/O.
But there is almost always a perceptible delay between pressing the icon and
the spring animation, specially if the animation hasn't been triggered for a
while. May be around half a second or so. It is not a big deal, but it doesn't
feel as smooth as it should be, hence the bug report.

[Bug 1846785] Re: Crashes instantly on launch with Pentium J5005 Processor

** Description changed:

+ * Test case
+ try to open a djvu file in evince on an atom based machine
+
+ * Regression potential
+ check that djvu files are open fine on newer machines
+
+ -
+
[PROBLEM] Djvulibre version 3.5.27.1-8/bionic crashes immediately on intel
Atom based processors. (I got a J5005 pentium ).
  Doesn't crash on a Intel® Core™ i7-7567U.

Due to this bug https://sourceforge.net/p/djvu/bugs/293/ ,

and fixed in commit 8407dd, on the 7th of October 2018.

From git tags, it is included in 3.5.27.1-11 (probably version xxx -10,
though I cannot see this tag in git history)

I notice that no dependency change affects any of the versions to the
build process up to Disco (3.5.27.1-10)

For intel J5005 (or N5000 on other popular machines ) this bug renders
  the package useless.

Indeed, it crashes immediately at application startup. Note that this
affects rdependencies such as evince, djview4.

I suggest upgrading the version available for Bionic LTS as part of the
development hardware stack long term support to 3.5.27.1-11.

  Yours sincerly,

  Milvi

[Bug 1879318] Re: Removing gnome software snap plugin breaks gnome software storefront on Xubuntu 20.04

2020-05-20 Thread C1ph3r L1nux
@Stuart
Honestly, I'm not surprised by the Ubunutu devs response to your bug report.
Like everyone else, I got excited about the latest Ubuntu LTS release and
installed it on day one. A week in, I’m sorry to say that I leave disappointed.
The amount of unready snap features being effectively forced onto users is
affecting Ubuntu’s usability and user-friendliness. In 20.04 LTS, Ubuntu’s
Software Center was switched from being a .deb version of GNOME Software to a
snap app. The new snapped store can handle management of snap applications and
traditional .deb ones, but it can’t install or remove Flatpak applications,
like the previous .deb version could. Users wanting to install Flatpak apps
need to revert to using the .deb version. Which at this point is no longer
available through the terminal. It’s not an ideal solution when previous
Ubuntu Software releases could handle all three formats by default. In all, the
latest Ubuntu Software is a step back. Even without Flatpak apps, I was
expecting the snap store to at least do well what it is supposed to. It turns
out it prioritizes snap apps over .deb in search results at any cost! So you’ll
see a long list of non relevant search results of snap apps above .deb ones,
even if your search term exactly matches the latter. Needless to say this is a
serious issue for discovering software, especially for new users. Given that
app discovery is so central to consumer operating systems, I’m gonna say the
new Ubuntu isn’t only a step back, but is borderline unreliable. Snap
applications auto-update and that’s fine if Ubuntu wants to keep systems
secure. But it can’t even be turned off manually. Auto-updating of snaps can
only be deferred at best, until at some point, like Windows, it auto-updates
anyway. Even on metered connections, snaps auto-update anyway after some time.
This is a deal breaker for people on limited bandwidth connections or who want
to know exactly what they’re updating and when they’d like to.
I never hold off updating my system for more than seven days in the worst case,
but this auto-update snap thing is causing me issues like slowing down my
connection abruptly and using a major chunk of my limited data for the
day.Ubuntu was my first Linux-based operating system and is what attracted me
to the ecosystem. I have a soft spot for it, especially the amazing Unity days.
As such, it is disappointing to see this snap obsession that has taken over
Ubuntu. An OS once lauded for its sane defaults and user friendliness is
actively going against the user’s will. What’s especially concerning is that
this is the Ubuntu version that millions of people will use for at least two
years. I don’t hate snaps but being forced to use it when clearly in a
premature state is forcing me to hate it. Snaps simply aren’t ready for
system-wide daily usage and Ubuntu should’ve known better. Perhaps Ubuntu
should’ve created a separate snap-based OS image, like Fedora’s Silverblue, and
only swap the default when it’s ready. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS’ snap obsession has
discouraged me from using it for the foreseeable future. I switched to Pop!_OS
a few days ago as my primary OS and I;m loving it so far. You should give it a
try.

[Bug 1879640] Re: crashed with SIGSEGV

2020-05-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

I suggest you start by deleting all the crash files. Then you will only

There are a lot of files, do you have to repeat any specific or new ones?
Yesterday, after a problem, I did "sudo ubuntu-bug * .crash" - is that right?

[Bug 1879468] Re: The copy progress shows more number of files copied than the total files present for large number of file transfer from external harddisk

2020-05-20 Thread Kushan
I have opened a new issue -
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/1501

Because the earlier issue you sent has been closed stating that happened in
a earlier version of nautilus which is no longer supported. But that issue
is still present even in the latest version of Ubuntu will all the packages
updated to their latest version so it should be fixed.

Thanks

[Bug 1879318] Re: Removing gnome software snap plugin breaks gnome software storefront on Xubuntu 20.04

2020-05-20 Thread Stuart
Of course it does, that's why I removed it. All recommended applications
shown on the gnome storefront are snaps, all of them, see for yourself.
Also when you search it always shows snaps first instead of repo apps.
So the workaround is not a solution.

[Bug 1181601] Re: Right click "Set as Wallpaper" creates duplicates of source file

2020-05-20 Thread bear7
In second paragraph you’ll find this:

If source file is already located inside ~/Picutres/Wallpapers folder,
file is also duplicated: new file has "(copy)" added to his name (ie.:
name_of_file (copy).jpg).

That’s a bug. Otherwise why would I need two copies of the same file?

[Bug 1874217] Re: [nvidia] Dual monitor setup with secondary monitor in portrait-right mode cause tiled windows to occupy 1.5 monitors

2020-05-20 Thread nugai
FYI, I had the problems of nVidia settings not surviving since 18.04
(and every release in between) up to 20.04.

I believe the underlying cause is that gdm3 greeter opens a new X Screen
for the user session after login, and a discrepancy between the X screen
configurations cannot be resolved because there is no way -- or, more
precisely, none that I'm aware of -- that would allow storing anywhere,
a configuration for the new X Screen that gets spawned.

Proof of the existence of a new X Screen can be found by starting a
remote terminal session against the target system and then running "sudo
lsof /tmp/.X11-unix/X* ". Before the login, only one pid exists from
node "/tmp/.X11-unix/X0". After the login, a second pid exists from node
"/tmp/.X11-unix/X1". I believe this "X0" and "X1" refer to "X Screen 0"
and "X Screen 1", but the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file know only about Screen
0 -- therefore initializing a new screen after every login and/or return
after the screen saver has been used.

Further proof can be found by switching from gdm3 to lightdm by issuing
"sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm". This causes other problems (with
background screens and alignment of screens, etc), but it proves the
fact that monitor layout configurations survive on the same
hardware/software components (specifically, same version of nVidia
drivers, xorg.conf files, ec), when all that changes is the display
manager and how it handles X Screens.

[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) with LibreOffice is broken in Ubuntu 19.10 & 20.04 (see comment 93)

2020-05-20 Thread Tim Passingham
Ethany - is there something else I can do? I've installed the proposed
update, retested, and so far all seems well (as I said in #159).

It's difficult to test and report on a problem which doesn't happen
every time you do something. I never found a pattern to it, just when
it did start to happen it was infuriating :-)

As to why more people haven't reported and retested, I don't know.
Maybe Libreoffice Fresh users on ubuntu 20.04 are still quite rare?

I have attached the files..

But :
when quit "system-load-indicator" the stuttering stopped. Video played
smoothly.

Tried it on both computers. Same result.
When "system-load-indicator" is loaded, stutter starts immediately.

Regards.

Also I don't understand how the comments implying that this problem
isn't being given "high enough priority" are a. valid (as in true; in my
experience this bug is getting a lot of attention, and the main thing
holding back the release of the fix right now is *user testing* e.g.,

Linux pop-os 5.4.0-7626-generic #30~1588169883~20.04~bbe668a-Ubuntu SMP
Wed Apr 29 21:00:02 UTC x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ apt show mutter
Package: mutter
Version: 3.36.1-3ubuntu3

This is the default install configuration for Pop!_OS. Under this
configuration, the bug is no longer reproduceable in LibreOffice Calc,
but is consistently present in LibreOffice Writer.

I am installing --proposed updates and will reboot and retest.
