Some background: rechargeable batteries have 1.2V nominal (compared to 1.5V nominal for regular battteries). Any mouse will report levels around 10%, although the batteries will run for *many* months. So users of rechargeable batteries will experience notifications about low levels basically after a few days of using a rechargeable battery. Although you might very wel argue that "it's a hardware problem", notifications about low mouse / keyboard battery should be optional, not forced upon the user. I have no way to disable the mouse / battery level alarm. I don't think this is quite fixed. I have my laptop display set to 2048x1152 and it connects fine to an external monitor via thunderbolt running the full 2560x1440 resolution but when disconnecting the display would reset to default 2560x1440 resolution with 200% scaling. After reading this bug report about fractional scaling, I disabled the option and now disconnecting the display from the laptop it returns to my preferred 2048x1152 with 100% scaling. [Bug 1883292] [NEW] Laptop not suspending on lid close after external monitors disconnected
Public bug reported: I have a Dell XPS 13 9380 laptop with Type-C dock. There are two external monitors (DisplayPort) and USB mouse attached to the doc. Normally I disconnect the dock cable from the laptop, close the laptop lid and laptop suspends. However, sometimes it doesn't suspend. I can see the 'Lid closed.' message in systemd-logind log which is normally followed by a sleep. Once this happens, laptop no longer suspends on lid close until I restart Gnome session. Also, if I lock it, the screen goes black but the backlight does not turn off. I can put computer to a sleep from Gnome menu. I'm not sure if it's issue is specific to Type-C dock though. It happens rarely, maybe 1 of 20 times. It suddenly started a few weeks ago in bionic. Official gnutls-bin 3.15.18-1ubuntu1.3. No changes to my system, where it was working for over a year, just suddenly started getting this error. Does affect Evolution on 18.04. I would say yes, as it prevents Gnome's default email client as well as Claws Mail from accessing Yahoo and AOL email accounts. I have this same bug in my system even when I had Ubuntu 19.10, the upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 didn't resolved the problem. My only clue is that this could be a problem with Dropbox, but I'm not sure because I disabled libnautilus-dropbox.so.bak versions 2.0 and 3.0 renaming the file, that's made the Dropbox menu to disappear of Nautilus, but the crash with SIGSEGV after a clean start of the computer it's still happening. The folder was completely empty (I checked with ls -lsah) but I deleted it anyway and restarted. gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.shell > settings.txt however still produces the same output. I guess that some of those "residue" gnome extensions might be causing the bug I reported however I am now more concerned that there seemingly extensions enabled that neither show up in the extensions settings nor in the extensions folder. Also shouldn't the default extensions be listed under "org.gnome.shell enabled-extensions" as well? Do you know where gsettings is pulling the list of enabled extensions from? Noveau fractional scaling is fine, but pc works on slow motion.. marco-carrarini's solution seems perfect in the beginning, but many apps do not work as they should.. so I used to change to default while using such an app and return to the solution elsewhere. But after a while I dismiss the solution. Now I am just waiting the fix while running the temporary solution of 1.25 font scale. Thanks for reporting it on gitlab! 1. That's the gedit design, the preference dialog changes the default settings, the menu at the bottom is for the current view/document. I think the idea is that you go to preference not often and set defaults there, where the bottom menu is a quick access for temporary changes 2. We call 'upstream' the people writting the software. The Gedit project is written by GNOME people and they are the one working on the code, releasing new versions, etc. Ubuntu does distribute their software (the example might be easier to understand if you think about chrome or firefox, we include those software but we are not the ones written them).
