Also worth noting: * Ubuntu 20.10 and 21.04 both seem to toggle (hide) the password as soon as you hit Enter. * The GUI process (gnome-shell owned by user 'gdm') should vanish as soon as you log in. Thanks. That confirms there is no EDID coming from the screen, so Linux has to guess about the signalling method. Thanks Daniel. BIOS Update was done under Windows/HP Tools before I installed Ubuntu. xrandrv.txt is attached. edids.bin would not attach, as it was empty. I tried various display settings, which all worked, but within the top half of the screen. [Bug 1912356] [NEW] Password visibility toggle stays active during login of next user
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When logging into Ubuntu's main login screen there is a toggle to show the password (the little eye on the right side of the password input box). If the previous user enabled this when logging in and left this in an enabled state, that state will persist. The next user logging in, after the previous logged out, will type his or her password and it will be plainly visible on screen. Consider that: - Typing passwords is often routine (a new user might often not notice in time his or her password appears unmasked) - The state of the eye icon might not be clear by itself - Password masking not being enabled by default is not standard, and for good reason This happens when logging into Ubuntu (Focal Fossa 20.04) on a default install. ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: focal fossa login password ubuntu -- Password visibility toggle stays active during login of next user https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912356 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1912246] Re: gnome-shell freezes randomly after upgrading to groovy
Hi Daniel, I disabled all of these extensions, and then rebooted the machine and still a minute or two after logging in again experienced the freeze.
