[Bug 1933118] Re: Xorg freeze
If the mouse cursor still moves then Xorg is still working. This usually means it's the gnome-shell process that has frozen or crashed, so please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - Xorg freeze + Screen freeze -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933118 Title: Screen freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1933118/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1933118] [NEW] Xorg freeze
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This bug appears to be a deadlock of some kind. It most often happens when I move the mouse (external USB mouse), but it has once happened when I left the computer logged in but idle and has sometimes happened in video conferences. When the problem occurs, the mouse cursor still moves and any audio continues being audible for a while, but the UI is frozen and unresponsive. The fan gets very loud as if the computer is doing a lot of work. If I try the 'REISUB' method of shutting down, it usually does not work. If I remote log in and do a shutdown, it takes several minutes to actually shut down - as if waiting for some process to time out. I haven't any obvious errors for this bug, and i don't know where to look for possible error messages. It is possible that if there is a deadlock, there is no error message, unless shutting down causes the process to generate an error message. The bug happens very often, sometimes several times a week. If you could tell me what commands to run when the problem occurs in order to gather more information, I can remote login and run those commands. [Bug 1932979] Re: blank screen with cursor after login
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. ** Tags added: amdgpu ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1932979 Title: blank screen with cursor after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1932979/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1932357] Re: Mouse events not interpreted correctly
It sounds like some events (or Bluetooth packets) are going missing. Please try a wired mouse, or try avoiding 2.4GHz wifi networks that may interfere with Bluetooth (use 5GHz instead). ** Package changed: mutter (Ubuntu) => libinput (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - Mouse events not interpreted correctly + [Logitech MX Anywhere 2S] Mouse events not interpreted correctly ** Package changed: libinput (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1932357 Title: [Logitech MX Anywhere 2S] Mouse events not interpreted correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1932357/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1932979] [NEW] blank screen with cursor after login
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 20.04 on amd64. I came back to the machine after it was idle long enough for the screen to go blank. I can see the cursor move with the mouse, but nothing else. This is VT2. VT1 shows a login screen. I can get to console VTs as well and did so to file the report. I see the following in the system log that may be related: Jun 18 18:29:54 cerberus gnome-shell[4694]: g_signal_handler_disconnect: assertion 'handler_id > 0' failed Jun 18 18:29:54 cerberus gnome-shell[4694]: Source ID 3568871 was not found when attempting to remove it Jun 18 18:29:54 cerberus gnome-shell[4694]: Source ID 3568998 was not found when attempting to remove it Jun 18 18:29:54 cerberus gnome-shell[4694]: Source ID 3569045 was not found when attempting to remove it Jun 18 18:29:54 cerberus gnome-shell[4694]: [System monitor] applet disable Jun 18 18:29:54 cerberus gnome-shell[4694]: g_dbus_connection_emit_signal: assertion 'G_IS_DBUS_CONNECTION (connection)' failed ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu14 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-74.83-generic 5.4.114 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-74-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.18 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip Date: Fri Jun 18 19:33:55 2021 DistUpgraded: 2020-11-04 10:03:47,100 DEBUG running doUpdate() (showErrors=True) DistroCodename: focal DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
