[Bug 1964545] Re: 42beta: moving mouse as screen is fading to screensaver prevents input to shell

2022-03-15 Thread Matthew Ruffell
I use the wayland session. I have recorded a short screencast of
reproducing the issue. I went gnome settings > power > screen blank > 1
minute to speed it up.

The screencast has journalctl -f running, and there is no output.
Interestingly, after enough clicks it seemed to start working again.

Screencast fades to black at 1:13, then I move the mouse and start
clicking on icons.

[Bug 1965072] [NEW] In Xorg sessions, desktop icons flicker when entering the overview

2022-03-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

In Xorg sessions, desktop icons flicker when entering the overview.

I think this is a combination of a new feature in DING:

  https://gitlab.com/rastersoft/desktop-icons-
ng/-/commit/6ab838e832b3771

and an old problem where desktop icon fading is only implemented for
Xorg sessions, as shown in:

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/1395
  (see also https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/1070)

If DING intends to make the icons vanish immediately then also fading
them in Xorg sessions may be causing them to disappear and then reappear
to fade out.

Re: [Bug 1964542] Re: [nvidia] One monitor remains black on startup or resume from sleep

2022-03-15 Thread Lsdp
RESOLVED
Hello
I applied your recommendation by placing nvidia-drm.modeset=1 in
etc/default/grub
and confirmed with
cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.13.0-35-generic
root=UUID=c8e08c76-0308-495c-8c5a-83f9aa24b1a0 ro nvidia-drm.modeset=1
I replaced the Nvidia 470 driver with the override 510 driver.
Also, I did put the video card from PCIE 2 to PCIE 1.
Everything works perfectly in X mode and this after a standby or a reboot.
DP monitor 1 and VGA monitor 2

I tried the Wayland and had several bugs; general crash or severe screen
corruption.

Thanks a lot for your help
PS if you have ideas for the Wayland mode I'm willing to try.

[Bug 1964996] [NEW] Dock tooltips keep showing after cursor moves away

2022-03-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Test Case
-
Hover over one of the launchers in the Ubuntu Dock for a few seconds then move
your cursor away.
Many times, the tooltip showing the name of the launcher keeps showing.

What Should Happen
--
The tooltip should disappear when the cursor is no longer hovering over the
launcher. Otherwise, the tooltips cover part of the screen and are in the way.

I'm using the Ubuntu session on Wayland with gnome-shell 42. Intel
graphics.

[Bug 1961508] Re: Dock displaying over program after resuming from blank screen

2022-03-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The version of gnome-shell you have does contain the fix for bug 1917939
still, but it sounds like it's not working in all cases.

Rather than worry about gnome-shell we should probably just wait for the
new fix for bug 1917939 which will be in mutter 42 instead. That will be
released to Ubuntu 22.04 soon.

[Bug 1961508] Re: Dock displaying over program after resuming from blank screen

2022-03-15 Thread ExploreWiki
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected wayland-session

** Description changed:

I have Blank Screen set to happen after 2 minutes of inactivity.

When resuming from a Blank Screen (by moving the mouse or touching the
keyboard), the Dock is displayed over the top of the current program.

To get it back to normal I need to click "Restore Down" on the current
programs window and then "Maximize" so that the Dock no longer overlaps
  it.

(Note: I have Auto-hide dock turned off.)

This only happens sometimes. I can't reproduce the bug it every time.

  -

  1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu
  - Ubuntu 21.10

  2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname'
or by checking in Software Center
  - Not sure (I guess the Dock is part of the Gnome interface?)

  3) What you expected to happen
  - Dock should not overlap the current program on resume from screen blank.

  4) What happened instead
  - The Dock overlaps the current program on resume from screen blank.
