[Bug 1982030] Re: POSIX is broken

2022-07-18 Thread Seth Arnold
Hello, please note, the bash(1) manpage describes when the ~/.profile is
read:

   When bash is invoked as an interactive login shell, or as a
   non-interactive shell with the --login option, it first reads
   and executes commands from the file /etc/profile, if that
   file exists. After reading that file, it looks for
   ~/.bash_profile, ~/.bash_login, and ~/.profile, in that
   order, and reads and executes commands from the first one
   that exists and is readable. The --noprofile option may be
   used when the shell is started to inhibit this behavior.

A shell started in a terminal is an interactive shell but not a login shell.

What you probably want is ~/.profile:

   When an interactive shell that is not a login shell is
   started, bash reads and executes commands from
   /etc/bash.bashrc and ~/.bashrc, if these files exist. This
   may be inhibited by using the --norc option. The --rcfile
   file option will force bash to read and execute commands from
   file instead of /etc/bash.bashrc and ~/.bashrc.

Thanks

I wasn't able to do anything about this - had COVID, fortunately the

However, after upgrading the system I haven't had this issue anymore.

I will still keep it under observation for a few weeks or so and keep

[Bug 1964541] Re: Cannot use Drag and Drop in gnome-shell 42 (Wayland session)

2022-07-18 Thread Francesco Abeni
I currently have the bug with Firefox 103.0b9 and mutter 42.2-0ubuntu1.
It went away for a while then it came back; I was not able to determine
the exact version which determined the (possible) regression. I am
available for tests and any additional information if it can help. Thank
you in advance for your time.

[Bug 1980831] Re: GUI freezes randomly, mouse still moving, nothing else works

2022-07-18 Thread Igor Kobzev
Have you tried just pressing the Super ('Windows') key to get into the
Activities overview? I've had this bug ever since I started using Gnome:
in Ubuntu 20.04, in PopOS, in Manjaro, in Fedora. The Super key trick
works every time. It'd still be nice to fix the underlying issue,
though.

[Bug 1981043] Re: xscreensaver never act when desktop is in "activities overview" mode

2022-07-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Neither the overview nor xscreensaver can work without grabs. So whoever
holds them first will win. I suspect this will never be fixable.

Note also that:

1. This will probably only ever be a problem in X11 with xscreensaver.

2. xscreensaver is no longer supported in Ubuntu.

3. GNOME has a built-in screensaver that will turn off the screen. It's
probably a better idea to use that.

[Bug 1981043] [NEW] xscreensaver never act when desktop is in "activities overview" mode

2022-07-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This is long standing bug and I think it really affects the distribution
security as screen locking never occurred despite it is configured by
user. The stock Ubuntu gnome desktop has the "activities overview" mode
when you press the "window" button. The problem is that xscreensaver
can't act in this mode. The app log is:

```
[Bug 1948881] Re: XSane plugin not available in GIMP File menu
2022-07-18 Thread Thomas Stieler
I would also like to wait until fixed packages reach the users.
Is is feasible to update the packages for 22.04 or do we have to wait
for 22.10?
