[Bug 2059817] Re: Image viewer renders SVG improperly

2024-03-29 Thread Stephen T Satchell
In discussing this bug with a friend, he reminded me that, in the "flash
and escape" phototypesetters, when you wanted to change the aspect ratio
of a letterform, you has to set anamorphic magnification. It appears
that InkScape has a habit of using complex scaling algorithms to effect
this anamorphic magnification. This could well be confusing some of the
image renderers. Looking at the XML coding, Inkscape sometimes changes
the font height, then changes Y magnification to compensate. Sometimes
it doesn't. This may be the root cause of the bug.

Any road, the issue is that each letterform in a variable-width font has
an image, and a width value (sometimes called "escapement", harkening
back to the days of the spinning-disk optical phototypesetters where the
paradigk was "flash and escape".) The width values are not being scaled
properly. This is most likely a simple oversight, and if so it's easy
to fix.

[Bug 2059817] Re: Image viewer renders SVG improperly

2024-03-29 Thread Stephen T Satchell
In further tests, I find that Chrome, Firefox, and LibreOffice Draw
renders the image correctly. Of course, the image was created in
InkScape, so it's rendering is also as expected.

Dia displays an error when loading the image. Document Viewer: SVG not
supported. GIMP screws up exactly the same way. ImageMagick doesn't
even try to render the text.

[Bug 2059819] [NEW] Regression: Jammy to Noble, right clicking on some icons shows dropdown on left side of screen

2024-03-29 Thread theofficialgman
Public bug reported:

In ubuntu jammy and previous releases, right clicking on appindicator
icons brings up the menu below the appindicator with appropriate gnome

[Bug 2059799] [NEW] GIMP N-Point Deformation crash on initial click

2024-03-29 Thread Jacob
Public bug reported:

I ran gimp with `gimp --show-playground`, went to Edit -> Preferences ->
Playground, enabled N-Point Deformation and Seamless Cloning. Closed
GIMP, opened GIMP without the `--show-playground` option, loaded a
512x512 PNG, duplicated the layer, clicked on the N-Point Deformation
tool icon in the tool box to the left, clicked on the image, a circle
shape appeared where I clicked, then GIMP crashed a split second later.

- debian/patches/ubuntu/add_sessionmigration.patch:
+ launch session-migration if present at the start of the session.
This sync tool runns different session migration scripts that can be
provided in various desktop packages.
- debian/patches/ubuntu/dbus_request_shutdown.patch:
+ Add "RequestShutdown" and "RequestReboot" DBus methods to allow
other applications to shutdown or reboot the machine via the session
manager.
- debian/patches/ubuntu/ignore_gsettings_region.patch:
+ Ignore the "region" gsettings value - users' setting of LC_*
variables saved in ~/.pam_environment.
- debian/patches/revert_remove_gnome_session_properties.patch:
  + Don't merge translations into gnome-session-properties.desktop
- debian/ubuntu-settings-migrate-to-defaults.18.10.1.py:
+ Migrate users using old default ubuntu-settings to current ones
- debian/xdg_dirs_desktop_session.sh: Install a new script into
/etc/profile.d to prepend a $DESKTOP_SESSION related directory to
  $XDG_{CONFIG,DATA}_DIRS.

[Bug 2046844] Re: AppArmor user namespace creation restrictions cause many applications to crash with SIGTRAP

2024-03-29 Thread John Johansen
@coeur-noir:

Are you installing firefox to /opt/ as recommended or using it local in
your user account?

as for bwarp, maybe it is known to be problematic. It is allowed to run and to
create a user namespace but it is denied all capabilities within the namespace.

Can you run
  sudo dmesg | grep apparmor

and add the information here.
