When I go to Desktop Effects and try to enable it no longer crashes but it also
does not work. Presumably because I have two monitors?

This bug went away after connecting the ipod to a mac with iTunes and
re-installing the firmware. Presumably an ipod bug (possibly from
disconnecting without ejecting) and not an amarok bug. Happy to close
