I just noticed that this only hapens for JPEG files, but not RAW (NEF)
files.
I take photos in JPEG+RAW, so there are two copies of the photo. The
thumbs for the NEFs have correct orientations, and the JPEG thumbs seem
to not have the orientation tag applied to them.

Pedro, I've removed ~/.thumbnails , and now it works OK, so I'm
wondering what was the cause.
The system was a fresh install of Hardy Alpha, with regular updates and

Seb, you are right; removing file-roller does fix things.
With file-roller installed actions like selecting directories, moving
the selection with either the arrow keys or the mouse, opening
directories, drag-and-drop, took about 3 seconds.

Seb, if you look at http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18038517/image-
thumb.png, you will notice that when this bug was reported initially,
the RAW files were being rotated, and now they are not.
I believe RAW files do have orientation data in them. Opening the RAW
file in UFRaw does also show the

Pedro, what tool do you use to look at the data ?
# exiv2 -p a DSC_3239.NEF | grep Orientation
Exif.Image.Orientation Short 1 left, bottom
For me, opening the NEF from GIMP only brings up UFRaw, which then sends the
image to GIMP with the correct orientation. I

Looks like this might have something to do with gnome-phone-manager,
which tels gnome-power-manager the battery level for the phone. The
crash doesn't happen when I close gnome-phone-manager.

I have tried building gnome-power-manager from trunk, but it has some
dependencies that are not in Ubuntu 9.4.
So, before I go building everything by hand, is there a way to see if
that commit is in the g-power-manager package for Ubuntu 9.4 ?

I tried the Karmik Live CD and g-p-m didn't crash ... but it didn't work
either.
The battery level for the phone, as reported by gnome-power-manager, is
0, which might mean that it doesn't comunicate too well with gnome-
phone-manager. If it did, it might crash, or not...

I got a similar stuck window when dragging a web page favicon from
the Epiphany location bar to the desktop. Normally this would create a
shortcut to that web page. The attached screen shot is the result I got
now. The shortcut was not created.
