I can reproduce the issue by unplugging and usb stick! When I plug it in nothing special happens, but when I unplug it the bug appears immediately. The same workaroud (switching VTs) resolves it temporarily. It does not happen 100% of the time though. It did happen 4 times in a row a few minutes
