[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown
The issue still persists in Ubuntu 20.04. Running mate with lightdm and light-locker configured to lock-on-suspend enabled. After resuming, the desktop contents before suspend are visible for roughly 5 seconds, before the lock screen appears. As this is absolutely unacceptable in terms of security and privacy, I'm using the following script to suspend (thanks to gethin for the pointer!): #!/bin/bash mate-screensaver-command -l systemctl suspend -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1280300 Title: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1280300/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You can make those settings permanent by editing /etc/sysctl.conf and adding the line vm.dirty_bytes = 2 By issuing $ sysctl -p you won't have to reboot to use the new settings right away. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel when starting jaunty, gnome-panel crashes after login, that is, most areas are grey and only two applets (user switcher and cpu freq applet) stay responsive. this happens on every startup. when trying to logout, i do get the message that gnome-panel is still running and not responding. when opening a terminal and doing gnome- panel --replace all is fine until this command is quit. strange thing is: i've tried jaunty first a couple of days ago, when this bug did NOT occur. however, on that first install, i installed over previous ubuntu intrepid, without formatting the partition, therefore using my old intrepid home folder. today, i did a clean install of jaunty, that is, formatting the drive. now, this crash all of a sudden occurs. please let me know how i can help debugging. cheers, roots. lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch) Release:9.04 gnome-panel: Installed: 1:2.26.0-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:2.26.0-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:2.26.0-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome-panel crashes on startup in jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347625 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 217768] Re: evolution messes up email content vs. sender/subj/date
after some days of testing, what i've found is, that this bug only occurs when evolution is auto-started with a saved desktop session (ubuntu hardy, gnome). the bug did not occur as of yet if evolution is started manually. this behaviour, along with another evolution auto- start bug i posted (#215643), indicates that evolution may cause several severe problems if auto-started with a saved session. having said that, i consider the above logging being of no real value. if i may help you in debugging in other ways, please let me know! furthermore, the dummy folder method for resync of the folders described in my post on 2008-04-19, however, does not work properly either under certain circumstances and may cause wanted email (content) to magically disappear into previously deleted messages in the trash folder. -- evolution messes up email content vs. sender/subj/date https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217768 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 217768] [NEW] evolution messes up email content vs. sender/subj/date
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution hi there, a really strange bug occured to me for the very first time. what is was doing: using evolution to fetch email via pop3 what happened: evolution displayed all fetched email in the inbox, but: the email content shown, both in preview and full view does not match with the from, subject, date information shown in the respective inbox columns. to make sure, i switched the full view to include headers which confirmed the problem. i'm sorting my inbox by newest email first. the mismatch occurs in the manner, that the newest mail received has correct match, but the content of this newest mail is also the content of the second newest, which already has different sender/subject/date. all following (older, that is) email's contents are shifted to the next oldest email in the inbox. example: newest email sender/subject is gmx spam report, 2nd newest email sender/subject is ubuntuforums post notification, 3rd newest email sender/subject is some ebay info. now the actual email contents are: newest email gmx spam report, 2nd newest gmx spam report, 3rd newest ubuntuforums post notification, and so on. one guess i have is that, before fetching mail today, i had one mail in my inbox which was still marked as unread. this email has not been fetched twice, but it's exactly this email's sender/subject/date that now occurs twice for two email with different content - one of the original content, and one with shifted content. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- evolution messes up email content vs. sender/subj/date https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217768 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 215643] [NEW] Evolution: Can't move email from/to mail folders on Xubuntu
Public bug reported: i've been having this problem since i started using evolution on Xubuntu on my notebook, that is, for 2 years now. i'm having evolution start up with a saved session on system start. when trying to drag'n'drop - move an email (or multiple) from, let's say the inbox, to another folder, the cursor shows a little x, meaning that i just can't move the email. so, when dragging it to some folder, it will just snap back to where it came from and not appear in the target folder. when i close evolution and restart it, all will be fine - email can be moved to wherever i want - well, within my folders, that is. same happens when i do not start evolution automatically on system startup and manually run it lateron - i can move email without any problem. no such problems occur on my desktop pc running Ubuntu/Gnome. os: Xubuntu hardy testing (also: gutsy, feisty) evolution: 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 (also: previous versions) system: acer travelmate 382tmi ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Evolution: Can't move email from/to mail folders on Xubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215643 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
