OK, I'm totally sure it's a freeze. Moreover, gnome-shell stack trace looks normal, event loop runs just fine. I can generate and provide core file if needed. What I managed to debug so far, is that in case of multiple /dev/dri/cardX being created frame_cb in meta-stage-x11.c:296 is not called which simply results in the screen being stalled. Debugging it up the stack trace leads to conclusion, that cogl_glib_source_dispatch in cogl-glib-source.c:133 is not called at all for some reason. [Bug 886327] Re: Nautilus window closes when unmounting currently explored filesystem
Thank you for your input. I browsed through GNOME Bugzilla bugs and found that Bug no. 530542 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/530542) was sent to the developers through GNOME Bugzilla. It got their attention and, according to comments posted under Launchpad bug (the Bugzilla entry was somewhat abandoned), was fixed: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/530542/comments/7 - Don't auto-close the window you initiated an unmount in (lp: #530542) Unfortunately, this is no longer true, since after unmounting, the window auto-closes - and now it doesn't matter if you mount through Nautilus window or any other means, the behaviour is still the same. Nautilus somehow lost its mechanism which redirects window focus to computer:///. One year ago someone filed a bug at both Launchpad and GNOME Bugzilla which was confirmed and also connected to similar (the same?) bad program behaviour. This issue was to be fixed in nautilus (1:2.29.92-0ubuntu1) (Lucid Lynx timeline) and I do remember Nautilus working correctly back then. But since few weeks the behaviour changed back to the state from before the bugfix. I am still a newbie when it comes to how Launchpad and Bugtrackers work. I would like someone to tell me if this phenomenon shouldn't be labeled as regression? And should I file a new bug entry at GNOME Bugzilla - or rather post a comment under the bug from year ago? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886327 Title: Nautilus window closes when unmounting currently explored filesystem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/886327/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 886327] [NEW] Nautilus window closes when unmounting currently explored filesystem
Public bug reported: What happens: In Nautilus, when exploring a mountable filesystem of a device (having it open in the active window/tab), unmounting this device by the unmount icon on the side panel causes whole window to close, having immediately followed unmounting. If the currently explored folder isn't the one on the filesystem that we unmount, then nothing happens to Nautilus window. Steps to reproduce: 1. Mount a filesystem. 2. Open Nautilus and explore the content of said filesystem. 3. Unmount said filesystem, for example using the unmount icon on the side panel. 4. In the current state of things, Nautilus window will close immediately due to unmount. What should happen: After unmounting an actively explored filesystem, the window/tab should change its focus to a default element, such as computer:/// - like it was before, or perhaps /media, /home? Alternatively: Because some consider the desired behaviour as a bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/23293), there should be a possibility to change this behaviour to the way the end user wants it to be - either closing the Nautilus window/tab or changing address to a default element. It is similar to how Windows 7 explorer.exe works. [Bug 800979] Re: gnome-volume-control doesn't control USB headset speaker volume
Could this be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /gnome-media/+bug/856110? Try setting the volume to 100 in alsa-mixer and then see if changing the volume in the gnome-volume-control now changes your headset volume. If so, then it's almost definitely the same bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/800979 Title: gnome-volume-control doesn't control USB headset speaker volume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/800979/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 800979] [NEW] gnome-volume-control doesn't control USB headset speaker volume
Public bug reported: This problem began immediately after I upgraded from Maverick to Natty (11.04). I tried using an old kernel and it did not help. Installed version of gnome-media is 2.32.0-0ubuntu7. When I plug my USB headset in, it shows up in gnome-volume-control and I can select it as the default output device. (The headset also has a microphone which I can select as an input device, and seems to work properly.) The available output profiles for the selected device are: 1. Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output 2. Analog Stereo Output If I choose option 1, the output volume control affects the volume of the device (but see below). If I choose option 2, the output volume control has no effect. HOWEVER, there is another variable here, an extra volume control that I can only access in alsamixer for the USB device, which is called Speaker. This volume control is unrelated to any of the gnome-volume- control controls (changing one will not cause the other to update), but it also influences the output volume of the headset! For instance, if this volume control is 0 and the Digital Stereo Output control is 100, there is no sound. If this volume control is 100 and the Digital Stereo Output is 0, there is no sound. If they are both 100 then there is sound. The problem is all the more annoying because each time I plug the USB device in, the alsamixer volume control resets to 0, meaning I have to go into alsamixer each time I plug the device in in order to hear anything. [Bug 566877] Re: Disabling and Enabling Evolution Indicator plugin closes evolution
Actually, this is not only Indicator-plugin specific. I have noticed the same using Tracker 0.8 plugin for evolution. The Tracker developers state (not exactly quoting) that when the plugin is disabled, the DBus connections are not properly unregistered from the DBus session, and when the plugin is enabled again, it cannot properly re-register the DBus connections (as already there) and thus, exit() gets called. It makes sense, as Evolution also probably uses DBus to communicate with the indicator-applet. So it's probably a bug specific to ePlugins which register DBus connections. -- Disabling and Enabling Evolution Indicator plugin closes evolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566877 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 557893] [NEW] Jabber account 'resource' not properly setup when Empathy starts
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy My Jabber account info has my *nickname* in the resource field. AFAIK, the resource in XMPP allows the same person to be for example logged in twice in two different places with same username, but different resource name. The issue here is that initially, the value in the resource field is not applied when I login the Jabber account. I can see it because I auto-login to several rooms, and my identifier in those rooms is something like r...@server.com/Full Name instead of r...@server.com/nickname. If I want to have my nickname as identifier, I need to go to the account info, go to the resource field, modify it (even if it was ok previously), and then disable and enable the account. [Bug 529622] Re: evolution not respondig, high cpu usage. ubuntu 10.04 alfa3
Aha, yeah, I can reproduce it. Some additional background: I removed Ubuntu One using the Ubuntu Software Center just after installing Lucid, and also removed the Ubuntu One directory in my $HOME. Now, I open Evolution and it goes OK until I go to the Contacts section and I just click in the Ubuntu One CouchDB address book. Just after the click, selecting the item in the treeview, evolution-data-server goes to 100% CPU usage, and need to logout my current session. BTW, there seems no way to effectively emove the Ubuntu One CouchDB address book. I try to remove it, disappears from the treeview, I restart Evolution and there it is again. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- evolution not respondig, high cpu usage. ubuntu 10.04 alfa3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/529622 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 152246] Re: gThumb change date to exif date
Sure, I can attach the file if it can be uploaded, as the size is almost 1MB, and when I try to resize it with gThumb exif is removed completely. You are right that if a file has DateTime tag in exif, then the changing date from exif in gThumb is active in Gutsy (chacked it with some other photos), but I've always been convinced that DateTimeDititized tag is taken when changing the date of the file. I have hp photosmart 935, which never produces DateTime tag which can be seen in the screenshot I uploaded previously. The point is gThumb in Feisty could change the date of the file from exif even when DateTime tag was not present. It's not possible now in Gutsy version of gThumb. Besides I went through my pictures and noticed that if i want to modify the dates of my photos I prefer using DateTimeOriginal or DateTimeDigitized tags rather than DateTime tag, which is not when the photo was taken originaly taken. ** Attachment added: HPIM0491.JPG http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9977012/HPIM0491.JPG -- gThumb change date to exif date https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152246 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gthumb in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 70223] Re: Internal data flow error.
And here too. It seems that it's not related to click speed - it just doesn't happen once in few runs/plays. I just click ok on the error message, then click play - and it plays. Or not. Some subtitle types/files seem to be more prone to problems than others. [Bug 77484] Re: [feisty] Evolution hangs at startup
Nope, neither kernel nor Evolution caused any problems since then. The problems seems to be lost in the seas of entrophy. I'm using ndiswrapper, so this is not really something special. -- [feisty] Evolution hangs at startup https://launchpad.net/bugs/77484 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 77484] Re: [feisty] Evolution hangs at startup
Whops! While trying to get some more debug info I the kernel crashed on me. After a reboot evolution worked again. Therefore, this may be kernel-related (I experience several stability issues since 2.6.20), but I'll leave this open for a while. -- [feisty] Evolution hangs at startup https://launchpad.net/bugs/77484 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 77484] Re: [feisty] Evolution hangs at startup
Backtrace from attached gdb. It lacks several symbols but only after poll(), so it should (?) be usable anyway. According to strace the process hangs indefinetely on the poll() syscall. ** Attachment added: Backtrace http://librarian.launchpad.net/5568627/bt -- [feisty] Evolution hangs at startup https://launchpad.net/bugs/77484 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 77484] [feisty] Evolution hangs at startup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Evolution hangs on poll() after startup - without showing any windows etc. Evolution-data-server works (I can see the tasks in the clock- applet) but the evolution-2.10 process itself is hung. [Bug 67193] Re: on gnome start i get a crash report
I couldn't reproduce the bug since installing the debug packages. I may have updated some libraries at the time (I'm on feisty, so there's quite a lot of changes), but nothing comes to my mind. One real difference that comes to my mind is that I have clicked the submit bug report button in apport. Possibly the crash didn't repeat - it could be the same file being brought to my attention many times. Twen's comment seems to confirm that, but I can't come up with a way to confirm or deny the theory at the moment. -- on gnome start i get a crash report https://launchpad.net/bugs/67193 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
