Bismillaah. Salaam/Peace. Thanks for your reply. However, I have no technical knowledge of Linux systems. Perhaps you can guide me in finding the problem that is sidetracking this systems volume. Literally, I now have no control of Ubuntu's volume control. The icon at the top of Ubuntu's screen is presently inoperative. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp Bismillaah. Salaam/Peace. After updating of security and other files 11/02/10, volume control near keyboard, of my notebook will not operate. Volume is now controlled by an icon at the top of Ubuntu screen. I'm not certain which package the bug is in, but Synaptic Package Manager shows an audio file as follows: libaudiofile 0.2.6.7 ubuntu 1.9.0 246KB. BlueSkies.
