[Bug 504645] [NEW] [Ubuntu 9.10] Brasero won't accept FLAC files for audio disc project

2010-01-08 Thread Chris Wagner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Steps to reproduce:
  1) Launch 'brasero'
  2) Create a new audio project
  3) Attempt to drag a FLAC file into the project from nautilus

After following those steps, I am presented with a dialog that says the
following in larger bold text:
02 - Roll with It.flac could not be opened.
And it says the following below that in regular text:
02 - Roll with It.flac is not suitable for audio or video media.

Totem seems to play the file just fine. And I seem to have several
FLAC-related gstreamer things installed:
  ch...@dell-desktop:~$ gst-inspect-0.10 | grep flac
  (gst-inspect-0.10:12694): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple
times
  typefindfunctions: audio/x-flac: flac
  typefindfunctions: application/x-id3v1: tta, flac, ogg, mpga, mp1, mp2, mp3
  typefindfunctions: application/x-id3v2: tta, flac, ogg, mpga, mp1, mp2, mp3
  flac: flactag: FLAC tagger
  flac: flacdec: FLAC audio decoder
  flac: flacenc: FLAC audio encoder
ffmpeg: ffmux_flac: FFmpeg raw FLAC muxer
ffmpeg: ffdec_flac: FFmpeg FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) decoder

...

Upon further investigation, actually, it seems that this is only a
problem with a certain FLAC-encoded album that I have. But why should
it work under Totem but not Brasero? I'll attach a culprit file.

[Bug 359835] [NEW] Brasero gives confusing message (No space left on resource) when device containing /tmp is full

2009-04-11 Thread Chris Wagner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

The fact that Brasero does not seem to clean up its temp files is
another bug, but that's not what I'm reporting here. I'm simply
reporting the fact that the error message seen, when there is no disk
space left on the device containing /tmp, is rather confusing --
especially considering that the given CD-R I'm trying to burn onto is
what first comes to mind when I hear resource in this context. An
error message like, No space is left to create temporary files in /tmp
would be better; an even better message could probably be drafted if we
put a little more thought into it...

I'm running on Ubuntu 8.10 here, with the 0.9.1-0ubuntu3~intrepid1
brasero package.

Thanks!

[Bug 107748] Re: Evolution hangs temporarily, for periods of up to 5 or 10 minutes, since late in the Feisty development cycle

2008-08-12 Thread Chris Wagner
I haven't seen this problem in a long while. It could have to do with
the fact that I generally don't make use of multiple IMAP accounts very
often, anymore. (Evolution is configured with multiple IMAP accounts,
but I usually use only my primary account.) I have also since done re-
installations for my computers.

2008-03-24 Thread Chris Wagner
Ah, yes. I recently upgraded to Hardy, and I have not had these lock-

I won't be too quick to declare this problem fixed, however, as I've had
the symptom come-and-go before. But, so far, so good -- since upgrading
to Hardy...

Hi. You may want to file a separate bug report. That problem may have

I don't seemed to have had this problem for a little while now -- not on

the extent that I was having them. I'm not sure what has changed (?).

Does anyone have this problem on Gutsy? If someone is seeing this

give some good insight as to whether this bug has been fixed since

Re: [Bug 107748] Evolution hangs temporarily, for periods of up to 5 or 10 minutes, since late in the Feisty development cycle

2007-05-04 Thread Chris Wagner
Hi Corne,

I doubt my IMAP server is running Scalix. (I'm using my old university
email account, so I don't control the server.) I'll give that plugin a
try, anyhow, the next time Evolution is acting up.

Thanks!
Chris

2007-05-02 Thread Chris Wagner
I don't believe my issue is related to Send Receive. I just did three
Send/Receive's in-a-row, and they all moved along quickly and as would
be expected. Also, I'm not sure that Evolution is actually using up
significant CPU cycles, on my computer, when it locks up.

I have seen other bug reports that sound more specific to your issue,
Alex, in the Gnome bug tracker and perhaps here in Launchpad as well.
You might want to have a gander.

[Bug 76873] Re: [feisty] Evolution stops sending SMTP mail

2007-03-08 Thread Chris Wagner
On looking over this report again, I think it may be another issue that
I see with my static IP connection. Matt, there is a little icon in the
lower-left corner of Evolution. Does this show that you are connected
or disconnected?

On my system, Evolution has begun (since Feisty) to do this thing where-
by it sets the status to disconnected on start-up, probably because
network-manager thinks there is no connection (because of the static IP
setup). After clicking this connected/disconnected button (the one in
the lower-left corner), however, Evolution operates normally.

If this is in fact the problem you're seeing, then we may want to join
forces with the folks over at bug 82927, as I think the issue(s)
described there are related.

Just because users are able to resolve this issue manually does not make
it a non-bug. Aside from the fact that many users wouldn't be competent

I was just having such a problem - evolution would not send out my mail
over SMTP. Before I replaced my RoadRunner (cable connection) with DSL,
just one day ago, I thought the problem was related to the poor
connection; after replacing it with a DSL connection (which seems to
work fine with everything else) the problem persisted, so it implied
something else was amiss. It seemed to start working again after
switching the SMTP authentication mechanism from using TLS encryption to
using SSL encryption. That may be a clue :./ ...

[Bug 72228] Re: All UI text missing

2007-01-12 Thread Chris Wagner
It sounds, to me, like this is a problem with GTK 1.x-based
applications; Audacity, Ardour, XMMS, and NeroLinux all use the old 1.x
series of GTK, to the best of my knowledge. Let's re-assign it to the
gtk+1.2 package to see if we can find someone with some insight into the
problem.

[Bug 4758] Re: After upgrade to Breezy, hierarchical folder message list no longer correct

 How would I do that?

You'll need to create an account with Gnome's bugzilla, at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/. I'm assuming you'll be able to figure out
the rest, considering you reported this bug through Launchpad. :)

After creating a bug upstream, you'll want to link it to this bug
report using the Also Affects Upstream link.

Thanks.

[Bug 19684] Re: dimensions of the log and input boxes in chatwindow aren't remembered

2006-12-20 Thread Chris Wagner
I just tried this out on Edgy (gaim 2.0.0beta3.1) and, when making the
input box larger than the default size, gaim seems to remember the
dimensions after I close a chat window. If I resize the input box to be
smaller than the default size, gaim seems to *not remember* the size,
and resets the size back to the default. Is this still mis-behaving
according to what you expect, Ramon?

On Thu, 2006-12-14 at 10:14 +, Sebastien Bacher wrote:
Does gnomevfs-mv works fine for that?

Okay, I just tried several things. These all work okay:
 - gnomevfs-copy /
 ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/path/to/dir/briefcase.tmpl /
 ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/path/to/dir/survey.tmpl
 - gnomevfs-copy /
 ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/path/to/dir/survey.tmpl /
 ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/path/to/dir/survey.tmpl.bak
 - via Nautilus, moving *or* copying the file to *another directory*.
For example, if I am sitting in ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/path/to/dir/ and
select file.tmpl and hit Ctrl+C, then move up a directory to
ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/path/to/ and paste by hitting Ctrl+V, all works
okay. I can even *re-paste* over the file and I get a reasonable dialog
warning me: A file named groups.tmpl already exists. Do you want to
replace it?

So, in my case, the problem seems to only occur when trying to copy a
file and paste a copy back into the same directory in which the original
exists. What do I expect to happen? I expect to get a copy of the file
with a new name (e.g., my-file.txt (Copy)) as happens when copying a
file, using the same technique, within a local directory.

2006-12-04 Thread Chris Wagner
Also see bug 41170. Someone will probably want to mark it as a duplicate of
this bug, but I do believe it is actually a bit different. I think the problem
that I came across, when reporting 41170, was due to GDM not being able to
write to the user's home directory:
GDM could not write to your authorization file. This could mean that you
are out of disc space or that your home directory could not be opened for
writing. In any case, it is not possible to log in. Please contact your
administrator.
That's a more helpful method of failure than described in this bug's
description, but still not sufficient in solving the problem.

[Bug 4758] Re: After upgrade to Breezy, hierarchical folder message list no longer correct

...And I just seemed to be having the blank inbox under a dapper
installation. I went in and fiddled with some of my mail server
settings; I switched the authentication method from TLS to SSL, and
my inbox came back (note, my other folders were visible before that).
Switching back to TLS did not seem to make my inbox go blank again.

This may not have actually been related to the encryption method; could
have been a fluke. But, FYI for anyone who might see a similar problem.

Erik, under what Ubuntu release (dapper, edgy?) and libpoppler versions
was this unreproducible for you?

I'm on dapper with the latest updates (evince 0.5.2-0ubuntu3,
libpoppler1 0.5.1-0ubuntu7) and can still produce a crash - although it
seemed to take a little more fiddling around than it did originally (if
I remember correctly).

I will try to apply the patch, suggested by Daniel, to Dapper's

How long has this been in place? Since Dapper?
