[Bug 2043027] Re: Wacom Intuos S stop working after upgrading to Ubuntu 23.10

2024-01-10 Thread Kevin Missett
I was also able to download the upgrade per Jeremy Bicha's instructions,
which seems to have resolved the issue for me as well. (Again,
mutter=45.2-0ubuntu3, on Ubuntu 23.10.)

Thanks again to all involved! (Also, my thanks, and an apology, to
Gonzalo Rodríguez Carrera. I neglected to thank you specifically in my
message of a few days ago. I should have included you, especially as it
was your reporting of the initial issue that brought me here, and
allowed me to implement the fix in the first place.)

[Bug 2043027] Re: Wacom Intuos S stop working after upgrading to Ubuntu 23.10

2024-01-09 Thread Kevin Missett
First, thank you to Jeremy Bicha and Steve Langasek, and anyone else
involved in bringing the update to mutter.

I've been trying for the past few days to install the update. I enabled
-proposed, but every time I try to install the newer version of mutter
(whether directly by the version name, or by "mantic-proposed", I get
this message:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 mutter : Depends: mutter-common (>= 45.2-0ubuntu3) but
45.2-0ubuntu2~really45.0 is installed

The set of fixes does not include updating mutter-common; when I check
versions in aptitude, it does not list that version. I've tried
uninstalling both mutter and mutter-common, but when I go to reinstall,
it all defaults back to the 45.2-0ubuntu2~really45.0 versions. While I
do see 45.2-0ubuntu3 in the list of versions for mutter, mutter-common
only lists the version I have installed.

All that said, I know that the seven-day window will soon pass, and
maybe this will just become part of the regular updates; however, if
this problem has prevented others from testing, my guess is that it will
hold things up until there's been direct verification.

I realize this thread is not for support for this type of problem --
i.e., there may just be some command I'm not familiar with that would
resolve this whole thing, and so there may be no larger issue at all
other than my own lack of experience -- but I wanted to mention this in
case it isn't just me. I would be happy to install and test the new
package, but until either mutter-common is also updated, or I can find
out what I'm doing wrong, I can't provide any more feedback.

the possibility that it's related to the mutter package, as that was the
one that fixed the problem previously.

[Bug 2043027] Re: Wacom Intuos S stop working after upgrading to Ubuntu 23.10

2023-12-30 Thread Kevin Missett
I encountered this exact problem a few weeks back (Ubuntu 23.10, Wacom
Intuos CTH-680) but it was fixed by installing mutter 45.2-0ubuntu1, as
indicated. However, this morning, the exact issue reappeared. I tried
updating to the latest version of mutter (45.2-0ubuntu2~really45.0) via
aptitude, but it has not resolved the problem. My guess is that either
the patch was removed with the shift to the new version, or something
else updated that has created a new conflict.

I created this UbuntuOne account specifically to file this issue; thus
if I am incorrect in adding to this thread rather than creating a new
one/filing a new bug, my apologies. Please let me know what further
information I should provide, or where else to post the issue. Thank you
in advance!

[Bug 1973226] [NEW] UI doesn't allow setting Left Ctrl as Compose

2022-05-12 Thread Kevin Bullock
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 20.04, I was able to set Left Ctrl as my Compose key using
gnome-tweaks. I just upgraded to 22.04, where the Compose key settings
have been removed from gnome-tweaks and moved into control-center, but
Left Ctrl is not in the list of options for Compose.

I was able to restore Left Ctrl as my Compose key using:

$ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources xkb-options ...

adding 'compose:lctrl' to that list, but it would be nice to expose it
in the GUI.

For context, my modifier settings are:

* Caps Lock is Ctrl ('ctrl:nocaps')
* Left Ctrl is Compose ('compose:lctrl')
* Both Shift keys enable/disable Caps Lock ('shift:both_capslock')

which gives me both a Ctrl key on both sides of the keyboard and an
easily-accessible Compose key.

[Bug 1968809] Re: Verify that the gdm cherry-picks are wanted for jammy

For me, gdm3 42.0-1ubuntu4 breaks Wayland entirely. There is no option

[Bug 1969243] [NEW] gdm 42.0-1ubuntu4 no longer shows Wayland option

2022-04-15 Thread Kevin Keijzer
Public bug reported:

After updating gdm3 from 42.0-1ubuntu2 to 42.0-1ubuntu4 in jammy, it no
longer shows any sessions in the bottom-right corner. When I log in, I
am dropped into an X11 session, with no way to switch to Wayland.

Downgrading the gdm3, gir1.2-gdm-1.0 and libgdm1 packages to
42.0-1ubuntu2 or 42.0-1ubuntu3 restores the option to select sessions
and defaults to Wayland again.

Looking at the changelog:

gdm3 (42.0-1ubuntu4) jammy; urgency=medium

  * Drop patch disabling Wayland on hybrid laptops using Nvidia's drivers.
It's not needed for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (LP: #1968809)

[Bug 1950040] Re: Wayland Screensharing broken in Ubuntu 21.10

2021-11-29 Thread Kevin Keijzer
I noticed that both the Firefox and Chromium snaps do work in Debian 11,
which uses an older xdg-desktop-portal than Ubuntu 22.04. I wondered
what would happen if I'd install xdg-desktop-portal and xdg-desktop-
portal-gtk 1.8 from 21.10 in 22.04, and it turns out that this fixes it.

So I guess that both the Firefox and Chromium snaps are incompatible
with xdg-desktop-portal 1.10.

(The Firefox deb and Flatpak show the same problem by the way.
Downgrading xdg-desktop-portal fixes it everywhere.)

[Bug 1950040] Re: Wayland Screensharing broken in Ubuntu 21.10

2021-11-29 Thread Kevin Keijzer
@vanvugt Are you sure it works?

I'm currently testing Ubuntu 22.04 (completely updated as of writing)
with the 94.0.2-2 Firefox snap. When I go to https://meet.jit.si/ and
click the screen sharing button, I can only select "Use operating system
settings". When I do that, nothing happens. I don't get an xdg-desktop-
portal popup asking me what I want to share.

Simply nothing happens; basically the same as with the Firefox snap on
20.04, which doesn't have any PipeWire support in Mutter, so is expected
to fail.

The only relevant line in the logs is "gdk_wayland_window_configure:
assertion 'height > 0' failed", just like the OP had.

I've tested this with both an installed system and a live usb session.

4) Click in the search textbox after results are returned
5) Use Ctrl-Left and Ctrl-Right to jump between words in the search textbox
6) Disable "Locate Pointer" to see the problem go away.

[Bug 1817389] Re: GIMP icon sizes small on large and huge setting

2020-09-09 Thread Kevin Barry
I was able to work around the issue by changing the theme in Gnome
Tweaks from Yaru to Adwaita or sticking with Yaru and removing the gtk-
icon-sizes defintion (note it spans multiple lines) in the gtk2 rc at
/usr/share/themes/Yaru/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

This may break the look of other gtk2 applications

[Bug 1848930] [NEW] Windows resize when sleep and wakeup on 100% display scale

2019-10-20 Thread Kevin
Public bug reported:

Scaling built-in display to "100%" makes my windows resize when I sleep
my laptop and wake up again.

Steps to reproduce:
1) In system settings, in the "Screen display" section, change "Scale" to "100%"
2) Open a window (e.g. a browser) and resize to most of the screen
3) Close laptop screen and wait for it to go to sleep
4) Open laptop screen
5) Observe that the browser window is now only the top-left quarter of the
screen, not its original dimensions

Reproduced on 19.04 and 19.10

[Bug 1772677] Re: gnome-shell filling up syslog with thousands of entries with stack traces ending in osdWindow.js (lines 206/207 in bionic, lines 223/224 in cosmic)

2019-01-17 Thread Kevin Knapp
One other bit of info I thought about that could be contributing is my
horizontal monitor is hooked up to a cheap 4 port HDMI switch (not a
true KVM switch, it's HDMI only). This seems to cause the monitor to
flicker back and forth during boot / loading the splash page as it looks
(to my untrained eye) like it can't decide if the HDMI is hooked up to a
monitor or not. Once the login page is displayed though that particular
problem is gone until the next boot.

[Bug 1772677] Re: gnome-shell filling up syslog with thousands of entries with stack traces ending in osdWindow.js (lines 206/207 in bionic, lines 223/224 in cosmic)

2019-01-17 Thread Kevin Knapp
I just got hit with this bug as well. Fresh Ubuntu 18.10 install on a
Desktop (Ryzen 2995x, 32GB RAM, Vega 64, 250GB NVMe /, and 1TB Evo 860
SSD /home) with two monitors (1 vertical using DP, and one horizontal
using HDMI), only thing I did post install was install a few flatpaks
from flathub (Discord, Telegram, VSCode, Slack), and a snap (CLion) as
well as a Rust toolchain (https://rustup.rs). Went to bed, went to work
the next morning, and when I came up the computer appeared to be frozen
as it wouldn't wake from sleep. After a hard reset and login, I noticed
I couldn't do an update do to "disk full". Checked `df` and saw `/` was
full. Quick checking of dirs lead to `/var/log/syslog` being 230GB from
a single night/day of no use!

My plan is to do a re-install (with Kubuntu which is what it was prior
to this install), however if there is something else I can provide that
would help track down this bug I will (assuming I see a message prior to
the nuke/pave).

[Bug 1809407] Re: [nvidia] After resume the unlock screen is a black background with pixel garbage. Bitmap garbage flashes on the screen when interacting with anything.

2018-12-21 Thread Kevin McMurtrie
I did some random trial and error debugging.

There's always a login screen on console 1 and there's always a desktop
GUI on console 2. It's sometimes waking from sleep into display 2 while
still locked. There's a dock, a system menu, and random bitmap garbage.
Hitting CTRL-ALT-F1 goes to the login screen. After logging in, it
jumps to a normally working display 2.

Not sure if it's related: CTRL-ALT-fkey is sometimes generating app
keyboard events rather than switching consoles.

Installing 18.04 completely corrupted my system and I had wipe the disk.
This isn't an old crusty installation.

[Bug 1807265] Re: Screen locking issue

2018-12-14 Thread Kevin Arnett
I discovered that the issue seems to not actually be the lock screen.
Last night the screen timed out but did not lock as the lock is set to happen
at 30 minutes but the blank screen at 10 min.
The screen blanked and the issue occurred. I came back to the laptop some time
later and found that the login prompt was there, and it let me enter my
password and login.

2018-12-08 Thread Kevin Arnett
I would like to add that the bug occurs after swiping the notification screen
up.
The blank screen that usually shows with the password entry box shows but
without anything on it and the applications bar on the left is still showing.

After applying the most recent update the bug seems to be happening less often,
and only when the screen locks after not being used until it timed out.
I work remotely and use Remina, skype, slack and Chrome which are usually all
open when the issue occurs.

[Bug 1807265] [NEW] Screen locking issue

2018-12-06 Thread Kevin Arnett
Public bug reported:

Upgraded to Cosmic Cuttlefish a little over a week ago, Now every time that the
computer locks the screen, the screen is mostly blank and shows only the
launchpad with favorites at the left, and the status icons at the top right.
Clicking on the apps shows the app for a moment before being hidden again.
  The system drop down menu shows the usual information except the system tools
/ lock / power icons with a pause button displayed in their place but all is
disabled except the pause button which suspends the computer.
  Upon waking again the computer is still locked. Have not discovered a key
sequence that does anything when in this state. Cannot even switch virtual
terminals or desktops.
  My only solution has been to power off the machine and do a hard reboot.

I expected the lock screen to blank out the screen as it did in the previous
release and show a login
My computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad T-410 with 6Gb RAM.

[Bug 1767995] Re: Horizontal scroll doesn't honor Natural Scrolling preference

2018-08-18 Thread Kevin Smith
This affects me too. I noticed it as soon as I upgraded from 16.04 to
18.04.1.

It took me a while to find a workaround, so I'll document it here to
help others. I believe there are other possible ways around this, but
this one worked for me:

First, I ran synclient, to find the current scroll values. For me they were:
VertScrollDelta = -73
HorizScrollDelta= 73

As a test, I ran this command:
synclient HorizScrollDelta=-73

That fixed the problem, but only until the next reboot. To run this
every time I started up, I created a script named
FixNaturalHorizontalScroll which contained just that line, and I saved
that script in /usr/local/bin. I used this command to make it
executable:

sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/FixNaturalHorizontalScroll

Finally, I had to manually run gnome-session-properties in order to add
my new script as a startup script.

I would be happy to help debug this. It's going to be a pretty
frustrating introduction for new users coming from other systems. And it
took me a few hours to piece together that workaround.

[Bug 1784552] [NEW] can not launch nautilus (files) from dock/sidebar

2018-07-31 Thread Kevin Ford
Public bug reported:

can not launch nautilus (files) from dock/sidebar.

[Bug 1704895] [NEW] service output sometimes missing when "User=" used

2017-07-17 Thread Kevin Pulo
Public bug reported:

This repros on a clean and up-to-date 16.04.2, but not on ubuntu-artful-
daily-amd64-server-20170618, so it looks like this was fixed (possibly
upstream) sometime between 229-4ubuntu17 and 233-6ubuntu3.

Create the test files `/etc/systemd/system/test.service`:
```
[Unit]
Description=test service
After=syslog.target
After=sysinit.target
[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/test
User=nobody
[Install]
WantedBy=sysinit.target
```
and `/usr/local/bin/test`:
```bash
#!/bin/sh
echo 'stdout msg'
echo 'stderr msg' 1>&2
# With the next line commented out, rarely see any journal output for the
failed service (though it still gets forwarded to syslog every time).
# With the line uncommented, will usually see output, and only occasionally see
partial output (1 out of the 2 lines) or no output at all.
#sleep 0.$RANDOM
exit 11
```
(and remember to `chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/test`).

Now as root try to start the service a few times. It will always fail,
but the bug is that the `stdout msg` and `stderr msg` lines are absent
from the journal. The expectation is that all lines output by the
failing service should be present - these lines are often critical for
diagnosing why the service has failed to start. The lines do, however,
always get forwarded to syslog.

```
root@ip-172-31-6-192:~# cat /etc/systemd/system/test.service
[Unit]
Description=test service
After=syslog.target
After=sysinit.target
[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/test
User=nobody
[Install]
WantedBy=sysinit.target
root@ip-172-31-6-192:~# cat /usr/local/bin/test
#!/bin/bash
echo 'stdout msg'
echo 'stderr msg' 1>&2
# With the next line commented out, rarely see any journal output for the
failed service (though it still gets forwarded to syslog every time).
# With the line uncommented, will usually see output, and only occasionally see
partial output (1 out of the 2 lines) or no output at all.
[Bug 1679226] [NEW] gedit consumes 100% of cpu when left minimised
2017-04-03 Thread Kevin Selva Prasanna
Public bug reported:
When left minimised, gedit on ubuntu takes up 30 to 50% of CPU. When I
maximise it to use it again, the CPU usage drops to zero. I tried
purging and reinstalling gedit many times. But it doesn't help. The
issue starts a few seconds after opening gedit. But the issue is so
serious, that I cannot use it more than a few seconds without heating up
[Bug 1677725] [NEW] Error report on bootup is useless to me
2017-03-30 Thread Kevin O'Gorman
Public bug reported:
On booting my system, I see dialog reporting a "system program error"
with no further information, and is asks me if I want to report this.
I have no basis on which to make the choice, because I have been
completely unable to figure out what problem is being reported.  The few
times I told it to report, I got no feedback at all.
This does nothing to help me do any of the things I want to do about this
situation:
1. diagnose or even identify the problem
2. determine if the message got you you, or to anybody for that matter
3. determine if there is an official fix
4. supply additional information
5. Fix the problem, whether on my own or based on an official fix
I'm attaching an image of the dialog I see, as it's all I can offer by
way of identifying the source of the message.
[Bug 1677042] [NEW] Grub recovery boot root prompt is unstable
2017-03-28 Thread Kevin O'Gorman
Public bug reported:
I've seen this on two systems: Xubuntu on dual Xeons, and Ubuntu on an
I-7.
When I choose "advanced options" -> "recovery mode" in Grub, and then
"root shell prompt" in the resulting booted system, I cannot expect it
to be functional for long.
I can do a few things, but even if I do nothing, it can break in a way
that takes it back to the place where I selected "root shell prompt" but
it is completely unresponsive to the keyboard or mouse.  Or nearly so.
I can get a reboot with the three-finger-salute.  Usually.
Even without that, I've been interrupted by status messages garbling the
screen and other stuff I'd love to suppress.  At least usually, I would.
I'd like some control.
When I'm already fighting system problems, this is even more annoying
than usual, but it happens on healthy systems too.
[Bug 1674477] [NEW] gnome screenshot gtk-mir crashes on taking the shot
2017-03-20 Thread kevin gunn
Public bug reported:
Tried this with (updated) Zesty plus ppa:attente/gtk-mir-staging
then export GDK_BACKEND=mir
launch from command line: gnome-screenshot --
--desktop_file_hint=org.gnome.Screenshot.desktop
Attempt to take a screen shot in any form and it will crash (see
attached log)
according to attente:
gnome-screenshot crashes is because it delegates the screenshotting to
org.gnome.Shell, and falls back to using x11 if that fails
so i think the solution is to have u8 implement that interface...
[Bug 1668428] Re: gnome screen shot behaves strange on zesty unity8
2017-03-20 Thread kevin gunn
retested, overhauled description based on the latest findings (at least
I no longer see the u8 lockup now)
** Summary changed:
- gnome screen shot full lock up on zesty unity8
+ gnome screen shot behaves strange on zesty unity8
** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image
   Status: Incomplete => New
** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => New
** No longer affects: unity8 (Ubuntu)
** Also affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New
** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => High
** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => High
** Description changed:
- Feb 27 iso build of zesty, clean u8 exploration
+ Updated Mar 20 zesty, clean u8 exploration
- gnome screenshot completely locks up the shell and eventually unity8 just
restarts
+ gnome screenshot will seemingly quit, and will not capture the desired screen
  to repro:
  1) launch screenshot app from the app drawer
  2) make indications to take a screenshot ( i selected custom area to select)
  3) "take screenshot"
- result: complete lock up along with windowing oddity, frozen until unity8 res
+ result: application bail out, in the instance of "select area" case, it will
take a screen shot in the instance of "full screen".
+ expected: get a screen shot of desired and the application should remain on
screen.
+
+ I suspect this is due to screenshot's reliance on X and our use of Xmir
+ not being completely worked out in terms of what the applications
+ perception of the screen vs it's own window is.
[Bug 1668417] [NEW] odd windowing when selecting "preferences" for calculator on u8 zesty
2017-02-27 Thread kevin gunn
Public bug reported:
this is on the Feb 27 iso of zesty, clean u8 exploration
there are several issues that occur when repro'ing:
1) open app drawer, launch the calculator app
2) click the concentric circles in upper left corner to reveal the menu
3) select "prefereces"
4) go to the "Number Format" drop down and click
result: - there's an odd transparent window covering the parent window
- there's a flicker associated with the preferences child window panel
- upon dismissing, there's a residual small transparent dark rect near the
"number format" drop down area (it will follow the child window moving)
note: selecting other drop downs will result in similar, as well the subsequent
dropdowns will occupy the dark transparent rect (seemingly not located in the
right position)
[Bug 1583088] Re: Randomly corrupt font / text / characters in Unity8
2017-02-02 Thread kevin gunn
@Gerry
I was going to try your suggestion, stop unity8 && start unity8
QML_USE_GLYPHCACHE_WORKAROUND=1. but it seems simply starting and stopping
unity8 is unhappy on zesty atm
fwiw, my current setup I'm seeing this 100%, and i agree cache seems
likely as first few windows are ok, but eventually text gets corrupt
[Bug 1583088] Re: Randomly corrupt characters in Unity8
2016-07-05 Thread kevin gunn
so question was asked from a previous dupe bug about repro steps.
afaict, there are no specific repro steps and the specific letters which
get corrupted seems random. But I've been using unity8 quite regularly,
and I've seen this several times so doesn't seem infrequent.
Might be worth noting that once a letter gets corrupt it seems corrupted
everywhere for that rendering - for instance on the power down prompt,
the letter "f" is repeated in the word "off" in 2 different places - in
one experience, no other letters were corrupted expect "f" in all 4
locations.
[Bug 1561368] [NEW] inconsistent behaviour when selecting entry in side pane, view changes from fit width to fit page
2016-03-24 Thread Kevin Choi
Public bug reported:
Some PDF files are okay while others do exhibit this annoying behaviour.
One smaller file (200 pg) keeps 'fit width' while larger file (800 pg)
keeps changing to 'fit page' when selecting an entry in the side pane.
No matter what I do to 800 pg file, it keeps the same behaviour.
[Bug 1532989] [NEW] bluetooth device list not populating after fresh flash
2016-01-11 Thread kevin gunn
Public bug reported:
Every time i flash, needing to connect my bt mouse/keyboard, i open
u-s-s and go to the bt icon, select it and tap on "connect a
device"...little orange spinner spins...but list never populates.
I have to log on to the device shell and restart indicator-bluetooth at
which point the list will populate.
I _think_ this is only occurring after a fresh flash, but i am not sure.
Still happens on Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet).
Occurs every time when done fairly quickly.
Easiest to cause via [Ctrl][Shift]N test [Return] [Ctrl][Shift]N test2 [Return]
Also occurs in Nemo 4.2.2.
Cannot reproduce in Thunar 1.6.6.
[Bug 1427974] Re: Evince keyboard input fails
2015-05-16 Thread Kevin Anderson
I can add more information to this.
It is affecting me on a fresh Lubuntu 15.04 32-bit install as well.
Evince version: 3.14.2
The pdf that is affected is here:
http://media.wizards.com/2014/downloads/dnd/5E_CHARACTERSHEETSV3.ZIP
It's from: https://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/character_sheets
Unzip the file, and open DnD_5E_CharacterSheet - Form Fillable.pdf in Evince.
 In Lubuntu by default this is the default application to open it.
Click in any field and enter some text.  Short or long, doesn't matter.
It will succeed.
Press tab, enter, or click away from the field.  Your mouse will still
work in evince, but no keyboard input will.  Keyboard works fine in any
other application.
This is not the only pdf to have this issue, but it is a concrete example of
one.
so the root cause of the media-hub issues is thot to be that notifications is a
It's definitely related to podcasts.  Everything worked fine for me
time, then crashed every subsequent time.  When I deselected podcasts
from the sync options on the iPod, it works fine.  When I reselect it,
it crashes again.
[Bug 1371146] [NEW] packaging bug in ubuntu-location-service-2/com/ubuntu/location/units/units.h
2014-09-18 Thread Kevin DuBois
Public bug reported:
units.h contains this include:
#include boost/units/cmath.hpp
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/location-service/trunk/view/head:/include/location_service/com/ubuntu/location/units/units.h#L21
which is only available in the libboost-dev package:
$ apt-file search boost/units/cmath.hpp
libboost1.54-dev: /usr/include/boost/units/cmath.hpp
libboost1.55-dev: /usr/include/boost/units/cmath.hpp
which are not in the build dependencies of the location service dev
package.
This causes problems for downstreams like platform-api, which only
averts the build problem by including other dependencies that rely on
boost (mir specifically)
[Bug 93847] Re: Excessive CPU usage by Gnome System Monitor
2014-08-25 Thread Kevin
FWIW, on my (6-year-old) desktop under 14.04 LTS running on an Intel®
Core™2 Duo CPU E7200 @ 2.53GHz × 2 System Monitor still takes around
20-30% CPU time (I checked both g-s-m and top).
I have two bits of useful debugging info:
First, if I change the update interval to 3s CPU usage in g-s-m stays
around 8%. At around 6s it falls to 1%.
Leaving the update interval at its fastest (1s), if the Processes tab is
selected but I remove all columns from view (no processes are actually
shown), the cpu usage of 20-30% is still there. But if I move to the
Resources tab CPU usage goes down significantly, to 5% consistently,
yielding instead to 5-20% CPU utilization in Xorg depending on how big
the window is. Since the only thing left showing the Processes tab is
the average load for 1,5,15 min I'm wondering if it somehow has to do
with that, or if g-s-m is doing extra work on this tab that it isn't
doing on others.
[Bug 1351428] [NEW] Online Accounts: Adding Flickr fails as unauthorized
2014-08-01 Thread Kevin Ford
Public bug reported:
I select Flickr from the list of providers and enter my user name and
passwowrd into the dialog.  It successfully authenticates (I assume)
because it presents me with Flickr's authorization page, requesting
permission to perform the operations that Gnome would like to perform.
When I click Ok to authorize it, I immediately get a window from the
Online Accounts applet saying.
[Bug 1311257] Re: Wifi cannot connect or unstable after suspend 14.04
2014-07-07 Thread Kevin Lyda
I have the same issue.  Upgraded 12.04 to 14.04 on a Lenovo T530.
Killing wpa_supplicant resolves the issue, so I wrote the following
script which seems to work:
Put it in /etc/pm/sleep.d/wpa_supplicant_workaround :
#!/bin/sh
case $1 in
  resume|thaw)
killall wpa_supplicant
;;
esac
Not really ideal, but it saves a bit of typing at each resume.
[Bug 1311257] Re: Wifi cannot connect or unstable after suspend 14.04
2014-07-07 Thread Kevin Lyda
Hm...
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2182058p=12824696#post12824696
That indicates a different solution might work - replace killall
wpa_supplicant above with nmcli nm sleep false. I haven't tried it
but it might work. And it might help Ubuntu devs towards a solution.
[Bug 1325230] Re: evince does not display ligatures
2014-06-02 Thread Kevin Dalley
fubuntu has the solution. I modified the file
/etc/fonts/conf.avail/30-metric-aliases.conf
and fi ligatures suddenly appear.
For some reason, I had trouble building the package fontconfig-config,
but it looks like the problem belongs with that package.
