[Bug 399974] Re: 'Keep Aligned' option always resets to 'true' after desktop reload

2012-05-04 Thread LaM
Actually I've seen that they did fix it at least on the = 11.XX
distros, when unity, the new interface (if we can really call it that
way) has been released.

Sadly...looks like it's not for us...(i'm still on the 10.04 and 10.10)

Hope sit. will change...I do not want unity.

Re: [Bug 784574] Re: gedit instance not used by nautilus when auto-started

2011-05-20 Thread Julian Lam
Good to know, the reproduction steps provided are only the ones I went
through, since that is how my environment is set up to cause the bug.

On Fri, May 20, 2011 at 1:14 PM, Matt Moen
784...@bugs.launchpad.netwrote:

I don't think this is limited to having gedit in startup applications. To
reproduce this bug, all I need to do (in a Unity desktop):
 1. Open gedit from the terminal, unity search, or a unity launch desktop
 shortcut, and
 2. Open a text document through nautilus.

Nautilus will open a second instance and all documents opened through
nautilus load in that instance. Repeatedly calling gedit edit from
terminal, using alt-f2, etc all re-activate the unity instance.

[Bug 654288] [NEW] Tooltip stays active during scrolling of contact list

2010-10-03 Thread Julian Lam
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When hovering over a contact's name, a tooltip appears with more
information.

However, when scrolling, this tooltip stays open until the mouse moves
out of the tooltip-triggering area. The tooltip covers part of the
contact list, so content behind (which I am looking to see!) is hidden.

Expected behaviour: When scrolling, the tooltip should be inhibited, and
re-enabled once scrolling stops.

Alternate expected behaviour: The tooltip should not cover the contact
list at all, choosing a location left or right of the cursor.

[Bug 644431] [NEW] Side effects when right clicking on bottom scrollbar while dragging

2010-09-21 Thread Julian Lam
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

In a gedit document with a bottom scrollbar, with multiple tabs open,
unintended side effects occur.

WHILE dragging the bottom scrollbar, right-clicking will switch the
current document over to the tab which is directly over the mouse.

The mouse pointer is at the bottom of the window, nowhere near the tabs.

This is reproducible every time. Create a document and open another new
tab. Insert enough random characters to make the bottom scrollbar
appear.

Start dragging it, and when your mouse is underneath a different tab,
right-click while still holding onto the primary mouse button. The tab
will switch.

[Bug 619281] [NEW] Empathy does not show inactive users who are online

2010-08-17 Thread Julian Lam
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Specifically, I am talking about the MSN accounts

Expected behaviour: Users who are idle or inactive should show up on the
Empathy contact list as online (or idle).

Encountered behaviour: Idle or inactive users are shown as offline.

Note: This is not to be confused with users marked as away, just idle
users.

This bug can be reproduced at will:
1. Log into MSN Messenger/Meebo, and find an inactive (but online!) user.
Remember his/her name.
2. Log into empathy, and note that that user is not listed as online, but
offline.

hi,

what kind of information should I supply for future reports? the fields are
open, so I don't know exactly what you need to know.

If you have a formatted drop menu option of some sort, that can guide me then
you should be able to direct your questions to get the information you need.

Let me know if this is possible.

[Bug 333269] Re: leave message uses an ugly and confusing dialog

2010-01-18 Thread Julian Lam
Great, now that this still exists in Karmic, let's get it through for
Lucid, shall we?

As stated above, it does seem like a gnome-screensaver regression (since
pre-Jaunty, it used notification-daemon), so a patch to gnome-
screensaver would be easy to implement (if I knew how, I'd do it).

indicator-applet is on by default, why don't we just use that to link to
the tomboy notes app (as mentioned previously)? Notify-osd can be
invoked to notify the user that a message has been left, and indicator-
applet can keep the notification persistent if the user misses the
notify-osd popup.

Ok, jokes apart...in my opinion it's a stupid bug(not stupid to be
corrected, but stupid about the human-interface approach) which should
be corrected before create further enhancements...but it's just my
opinion :)

know/remember) fix the problem...

I will install a virtual machine tomorrow and try the downgrade...I

[Bug 399974] Re: 'Keep Aligned' option always resets to 'true' after desktop reload

2009-12-20 Thread LaM
Hello ^^,

sorry i'm new so i haven't provided any info at all(but i'm willing to
if u kindly point me out where to search ^^)

I'll explain:

After I've freshly installed 9.10 64bit, i moved my username folder content on
a separate partition mounted boottime from fstab.
At the beginning i thought was that, maybe i mistook something thou...no. It's
not that. Even remming the line and rebooting cause the same issue:

Icons being kept aligned(right click on desktop-uncheck 'Keep
Aligned'). After a reboot, relogin or simply refreshing hitting F5 i got
it rechecked.

Right now i'm checking the configuration manually(system
tools-configuration editor). I see that the variable associated to
that(/apps/nautilus/desktop-metadata/directory/nautilus-icon-view-keep-
aligned) it's not a bool but it's a string...even changin it to
false(and even after reboot it is still false) doesn't change
everything.

Hope this helpsthx :)

2009-12-20 Thread LaM
Ok i've checked the config...changing to bool(false) and hitting F5 reset it to
string(true).
Setting the string to false and fixing it with mandatory...do not change a bit!
After hitting F5 it is still resetted to true!

Thou if i change nautilus-icon-view-tighter-layout to false and hit F5
this is not resetted...

weird :s

[Bug 490853] [NEW] gdm loading bar animation should appear on primary monitor, not leftmost monitor

2009-12-01 Thread Julian Lam
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Karmic allows the second monitor to be involved in gdm... great!

... and when two monitors are set up, gdm detects the resolution of the
primary monitor (in my case, 1680x1050) and places the animation on the
LEFTMOST monitor, which in my case, is not so.

Therefore, whenever the loading bar pops up, the animation is cut in
half by the monitor. (see attached screenshot)

The login window itself correctly selects the primary monitor, just not
the loading animation.

[Bug 403326] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_path_get_dirname()

2009-07-24 Thread Julian Lam
Unfortunately not, as a requirement for this was a broken USB drive.
I've re-formatted the drive since, so I can no longer reproduce this on
demand.

If you're interested, the only reason the USB drive became corrupted in
the first place was because I unplugged the VGA cable to my laptop,
which caused Ubuntu to freeze. (No bug # yet)

[Bug 356796] Re: gnome-panel crashes when visiting page in firefox

2009-04-07 Thread Julian Lam
I've attached a copy of that website's index.html. Opening this html
file locally causes the panel to crash and restart, so it is definitely
something in the HTML file.

Come to think of it, because this affects the gnome-panel and causes a
segmentation fault, could this be a security issue?

[Bug 333269] Re: [jaunty] leave message does not use new notify system

2009-03-31 Thread Julian Lam
Chris - My bad, I didn't realize that that was how notify-osd alerts
worked.

If that's the case, then there's no way we can have messages appearing
under notify-osd, unless the fallback alerts are beautified
significantly, since at current, they're quite uninspiring...

Either that, or use notify-daemon in conjunction with notify-osd...

[Bug 333269] Re: [jaunty] leave message does not use new notify system

2009-03-30 Thread Julian Lam
Still exists in Jaunty Beta. Using notify-osd might mean missed messages
(as they are non-interactive, and might disappear before being read).
However, what if expire_timeout were set to 0?
