'Keep Aligned' option always resets to 'true' after desktop

the protocol doesn't matter, this happens on the contact list
however, i figured out some interesting behavior that i didn't notice until now:
- when empathy starts, you are able to launch chats by double clicking on
contacts
- highlight a contact using a single click. double clicking on a
