[Bug 357678] Re: event time cannot be specified any more

previous installation) something from before could be generating the
bug, but in the guest session all is like a virgin, nobody sees the bug
there?

OK, I verified that the bug appears only when running evolution with
italian locales:

LC_NUMERIC=it_IT.UTF-8
LC_TIME=it_IT.UTF-8

LC_ADDRESS=it_IT.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=it_IT.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=it_IT.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=it_IT.UTF-8

if I run it with LC_ALL=C the bug isn't present

[Bug 362204] [NEW] gnome-language-selector don't let the user understand if he/she has modified something or not

2009-04-16 Thread donpaolo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

gnome-language-selector isn't clear for the user: the user doesn't
understand whether he/she has changed somnething or not. It lack a
button saying save new settings and a discard one.

Besides that, if I add a language with the button install/remove
languages..., it doesn't remember it: it asks me for my password, it
checks language availability, but apparently it doesn't install the
packages relative to the new language.

[Bug 328575] Re: Cannot start gnome-terminal bcause of gconf error

2009-04-15 Thread donpaolo
Jaunty beta.

affects me too, both if I run it with sudo and if I run it remotely with
ssh:

$ ssh -Yf paolo gnome-terminal

Notably the issue is only with gnome-terminal. All other applications
run well in both situations.

Also when local pc = intrepid, remote = jaunty : running gnome-terminal

[Bug 357678] [NEW] event time cannot be specified any more

2009-04-08 Thread donpaolo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Since I updated to ubuntu jaunty beta, featuring gnome 2.26, I cannot manage my
events' time any more.

If I open en existing event that has its time specified, the time isn't showed
in the corresponding window field, and saving lets the event as an all-day-long
event.

If I add a new event, I have the same problem: I can generate only all-day-long
event. Trying to specify the time with the time drop down list results in the
time not been shown in the corresponding window element.

[Bug 356246] [NEW] clock applet and wheather applet: location names should be presented in default language, not in english

[Bug 306336] [NEW] crash in epiphany causes crash in download

2008-12-08 Thread donpaolo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

I'm getting various crashes in epiphany, but this bug isn't about
epiphany crashing.

I was downloading a 148MB file from the web, with epiphany.

When the download was almost finished, epiphany crashed because of some
site, and so I lost the file I was downloading and I had to download it
again.

Solutions: either:

1. make the download window a separate application, so that a crash in
epiphany doesn't imply the crash in the download.

2. make the downloader capable of resuming the crashed download.

[Bug 24540] Re: can't remove broken links from trash

2007-09-22 Thread donpaolo
This bug is still present in feisty (natuilus 2.18.1).

When there is the broken link in the trash, selecting all the files in
the trash and hitting del produces nothing but keeping selected only the
broken link.

[Bug 140687] nautilus doesn't warn if deleting folder with content

2007-09-18 Thread donpaolo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

If I have a folder and I delete it, nautilus silenty deletes it, without
worrying whether it has some content in it or not.

I think that in the case the folder has something in it, nautilus should
warn the user about deleting a folder _with content_.

[Bug 37694] Re: Automatic photo import doesn't work with Canon PowerShot S30

2007-07-12 Thread donpaolo
Canon PowerShot A530 doesn't work in feisty.

$ gnome-volume-manager-gthumb

assertion _dbus_check_is_valid_path (path) failed in file dbus-message.c line

This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.

gnome-volume-manager-gthumb opens, the camera is on in read mode, it
recognizes the camera but only after quite a long time as a Canon
PowerShot A530 (PTP mode), and gives the error:

other times it says:

[Bug 28537] Re: nautilus search always starts from home in spatial mode

2007-03-14 Thread donpaolo
Another aspect of this bug:

Edgy's nautilus correctly begin search in the current folder, but if you
hit the + button to specify another folder, the correponding option
defalts to home page, and the search is actualized to the home page.

I think the place option should present the current directory.

[Bug 72857] Alacarte lack a way to change all the users' menu in a snapshot

2006-11-22 Thread donpaolo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alacarte

Working with edubuntu with many users (I have about 500 students on my
edubuntu system) it's very important to have a way to modify all the
users' menus in a snapshot.

In dapper it was easy: sudo smeg --root.

Unfortunatly that's not possible in edgy. That feature isn't in edgy's
alacarte.

Alacarte only permits to edit user specific menus, and it is impossible
to add or delete a menu enty for all users on a machine with alacarte
without launching it for each user, or asking each user to do it himself
by following a procedure...

In my case it's important, because with 40 clients I need to deactivate
all the graphic education programs, because they eat rapidly all the
processor cpu time. Also I need to remove the games from the menu,
because the students are tempted to use them and they don't work in the
teaching.

Besides that, this action should present the corresponding directory,

[Bug 70229] Search result window in nautilus doesn't show found files' location

2006-11-04 Thread donpaolo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In the search result window in nautilus, the directory where the file is
located isn't showed, it's hidden in the file preferences I can access
with a mouse right click. In the results there can be various files with
the same name, and it's very difficult for the user to understand what
is the file he/she needs.

Another aspect of this bug is that the folders are put in modified date
order, as the file.

However, that's not what the user expects: every user expects that the
folders are sorted alfabetically.

Description:
If I put Nautilus in list view, and the files sorted by date, the show
dirs before files doesn't work well.

Nautilus shows the files in descendent modified-date order, with more
recent files at the top (OK), but the directories are shown at the
bottom.
