14.04 LTS. I have a directory containing other directories. They sort correctly

I had this same issue on my i7 box (no SSD though) in both Ubuntu 10.10
and Linux Mint 10. I was able to fix the issue by following the solution
posted here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-
daemon/+bug/649809 post #68 which adds a short delay to the daemon
loading on
+ 1 for username. Surely even the most naive user could deduce from
common sense that the folder with their username is their 'main' folder.
I know that we're trying to spread Linux to the masses here but we have
to realistic about the type of users that are likely to convert and I

I have found that I needed to run gconftool -u
/apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_terminal then restart the
session for the updated keybinding - ControlAltT to stick. Before running
this command, ALTT still opened a terminal window
