[Bug 403135] Re: Notification area icon wrongly rendered/uses bg_color as a background (multiple apps)
I think it is interesting that KDE4 doesn't seem to have this problems again (GNOME Panel icons move apparently randomly on session start in some situations) at least with Wine and some other apps which have a problem with Gnome/GTK. And the icons are transparent around and I mean really transparent since the default theme has a transparent panel and not just a color gradient. -- Notification area icon wrongly rendered/uses bg_color as a background (multiple apps) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/403135 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

KDE and Windows have at least two profiles. One for battery and one for ac. If I want to shutdown the display after one minute in Gnome it is not possible. If I set the screensaver to one minute shuting down the display is possible after two minutes but at the same time my screen gets locked after 1 minute of idle which is pretty annoying. The locking feature is important for a laptop so there is no workaround. The whole thing is just stupid and I can only think of one advantage. If I set the display to go to sleep after one minute of idle time it shortly powers down after locking the screen manually and not after e.g. five minutes. Well, best thing for fixing is to mark it against Ubuntu :) . I don't know, Totem works fine in previous Ubuntu versions with Overlay output. It flickers but it works if the progress bars appeared. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I have enabled xv overlay with the -intel driver because the image is tearing without it. If I double click in the full screen window to get a video window the output is also black. It appears again if the whole Totem window is moved but after maximizing and scaling down the result is the same. This doesn't happen with textured video but it is atm no option because of tearing and it doesn't seem to happen wit VLC so I guess it is a Totem problem and not a Compiz/driver one. [Bug 122993] Re: ondemand governor does not use maximum frequency under load
This is still an issue in Intrepid. I have a quad core q6600 and it seems that the ondemand governor uses the highest frequency very rarely. If I set one core under 100% load e.g. with cpuburn ondemand doesn't scale up. Most of the times it even doesn't scale up if two cores are under 100% load or it jumps up and down. The only case when always the highest frequency was used is if four tasks of burnP6 running. If I compress a video with mencoder and four threads to H264 (at least 60% load all the time) frequency still jumps up an down while most of the time the lowest one is used. The worst case is if I use mprime (ftp://mersenne.org/gimps/mprime257-linux64.tar.gz) system monitor shows that all cores are under 100% load but ondemand still uses 1.6 Ghz instead of 2.4. If one core is under or nearly 100% load ondemand should scale up. [Bug 208629] Re: f-spot doesn't work with gnome-screensaver
I can confirm this. It is a real show stopper since F-Spot is the only installed image screensaver which is widely used I guess. ** Changed in: f-spot (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- f-spot doesn't work with gnome-screensaver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208629 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to f-spot in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 202931] Re: Cannot Unmount Volume (But it does)
I can confirm this. It happens with every CD/DVD which is inserted (even video DVDs which aren't mounted). A file operation isn't needed. I am not sure if it is a hal or a gnome-volume-manager issue. This doesn't happen in Gutsy but in Hardy since some time and of course in current. This is bug isn't really serious but it is annoying and of course confusing for new users. ** Changed in: hal (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: nautilus = hal ** Summary changed: - Cannot Unmount Volume (But it does) + [Hardy] [regression] ejecting a CD/DVD with drive button gives always an error message but still works ** Tags added: regression ** Changed in: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: hal = gnome-volume-manager ** Changed in: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- [Hardy] [regression] ejecting a CD/DVD with drive button gives always an error message but still works https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202931 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-volume-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 201746] Re: Since last upgrade yesterday, after booting the sistem (everything normal including sound), I can't see the desktop. Amd64 Nvidia Gforce
I can confirm this. I am not sure now which packages causes it but it is not an only compiz problem since it appears with the vesa driver too. I am going to test another desktop like fluxbox or something like that. I guess it has something to do with the gnome-settings-daemon or the panel. [Bug 201746] Re: [Hardy] [Regression] after login only a mouse is shown on a black screen (amd64)
Another problem is gdm. I have moved the user direcotory and created a new one with write support but after this gdm doesn't login with this user. It just changes the password field back to username field. I guess I have to find/create another bug report for this but I guess it is worth mentioning. [Bug 200411] Re: [hardy] [regression] gnome-settings-daemon update gives 400x300 resolution after login
Sorry I have read over it. What happens if you change your resolution with System - Preferences - Screen Resolution? Does it still show the correct resolution after X logout and relogin? Maybe your wrong resolution happens because of changes in the gnome-display-properties. ** Changed in: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- [hardy] [regression] gnome-settings-daemon update gives 400x300 resolution after login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200411 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 200411] Re: [hardy] [regression] gnome-settings-daemon update gives 400x300 resolution after login
You can run xrandr --auto in Gnome console. This should change the resolution to 1024x768 so you can use the gnome-display-properties tool. xrandr changes aren't saved so the GUI tool have to be used afterwards. -- [hardy] [regression] gnome-settings-daemon update gives 400x300 resolution after login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200411 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
