Wow, it's been almost three years since I reported that bug. I switched to MPlayer shortly afterwards, and haven't really looked back at Totem. Anyways, I just did a quick check, and I can't reproduce the bug at the moment. There is another fix in GStreamer Good Plug-ins 0.10.25. It looks as if Ryan Thompson is correct. The mkv seeking problem should be fixed in GStreamer Good Plug-ins 0.10.24. I confirm this bug on Karmic with Totem playing DVDs. There is a workaround though: if I press seek to the next chapter button and then seek to the previous chapter, everything starts working again.
