[Bug 1726516] Re: no progress bar while copying files

2020-08-30 Thread carlos
The bug is still present Ubuntu 20.04.

When copying files to an external SSD, no progress bar appears, and it
misleads me to disconnect the SDD before copying is finished.

[Bug 1726516] Re: no progress bar while copying files

2019-11-05 Thread David
Yea this is still happening, I have 18.04.2 LTS. Actually there's
another design problem with this- the little window isn't wide enough;
it has to "..." and so I can't see the transfer rate. There's no way to
adjust the size of the little mini window unlike an actual window.

Well another design flaw is that when copying a file there's no
indicator that it's doing this abnormal thing of doing a little tiny
icon in the upper right. Pretty much any user ever expects a seperate
window to popup. This little pie chart thing is pretty much unique to
nautilus right? We're supposed to guess that?

The whole design need an overhaul.

[Bug 1726516] Re: no progress bar while copying files

2019-01-03 Thread Reece
Reproduction and unexpected user experience details:

* In a nautilus window, navigate to a folder that contains a source folder of
large files (e.g., video or pictures) that is sufficient to trigger the copy
progress indicator.
* Create two `test1` and `test2` folders on the Desktop
* In a new nautilus window, open the Desktop folder. At this point, one should
see `test1` and `test2` folders on the desktop and in the Desktop folder in the
nautilus window.
* Copy the source data to `test1` by dragging and dropping in the nautilus
window. The copy progress pie chart in the nautilus window should appear. (Okay
to cancel the copy once the indicator appears.)
* Repeat the copy, this time dragging the source folder to `test2` on the
Desktop (*not* in the nautilus window). On my system (ubuntu 18.10), the
progress indicator never appears.

Many reports have focused on the inconspicuousness of the progress
indicator; I concur with that observation. However, I am more perplexed
by the inconsistency in behavior when copying to folders on the desktop
versus copying to the Desktop folder within a nautilus window. This
behavior seems inconsistent to me.

[Bug 1726516] Re: no progress bar while copying files

2018-07-01 Thread Ovoberto Primavera
I have the same bug and can confirm the following within several
systems:

16.04, 16.10, 17.04, 17.10 and 18.04 (ubuntu standardversion without any
Desktop manager customizations)

If I copy from Desktop into a nautilus-window or if I copy from a
nautilus window to the Desktop I will have no copy or moving dialog.

This happens with Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V as well as with the context
menu.

If I navigate within the nautilus window to the Desktop-directory and
copy/paste/move I will get a copy dialog either a progressbar or a pie-
icon (in newer versions).

This Bug happens every time and on different systems. It seems that the
Desktop is not bound to nautilus correctly.

Please fix this problem since I don't remember my work-around all the
time and have to wait blindly until my copy/moving-actions has finished.

Thanks.

This still exists in 18.04.

The biggest issue is that currently there is no way to cancel a file

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Yeah ofcourse the circle appears sometimes.
Although, the circle icon on the top of the window doesn't appear always (most
of the time) when copying/moving large files from one media/location to another.

Thank you for your bug report, that's not a bug though but an upstream design
decision. The copy indicator is a circle icon in the top bar, you can click on
it to have the details of the copy.
The file on right clicking is another problem see bug #1632027

I am having the same issue here in Ubuntu Budgie 17.10.
The indiactor (progress bar) doesnt show up when copying files (mostly large
files) most of the time. Only shows up sometimes maybe by luck. Have
reinstalled the system twice, yet to no avail.
Hoping it to be fixed asap.
