[Bug 242478] Re: Nautilus can not display FTP quite often

I can confirm this. I think it happens after a ftp connection is left inactive on nautilus for a while. Workaround: I found that if I kill the gvfsd-ftp process and quit nautilus with the 'nautilus -q' command (this last step may not be needed) I can then connect again to the ftp location when I

I think there is indeed a bug, or a lack of a choice on the FTP protocol being used. I have access to a server allowing ftp connections, but not sftp ones. Then, from the command line I can, as reported here, access the server without any issues. Nautilius (I think the problem is in gvfs) is not

No, sorry Sebastian, I was incorrect at assuming it was Nautilus. Turns out the server has SCP and not SFTP capabilities, so everything I was trying was failing. Turns out I need to use the 'fish' protocol in KDE or WinSCP through Wine. My apologies. Also, I have a couple of other FTP logins

No, same error occurs. I'm wondering if it is due to the '.' in the username... I'll try testing vsftpd and/or proftpd with a ftp:///[EMAIL PROTECTED] string in Nautilus and see if it can complete the request. On Tue, Jun 24, 2008 at 12:04 PM, Sebastien Bacher [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: thank
