I see two different bugs worth of a discussion going on here. The
original bug report is going on about jabber problems, and one
wishlisting how it should be different. Both are legit, but the
wishlist one should be filed separately, and if the original bug is
still a problem i should be sent
In my opinion, the UI around adding a Jabber account is at worst
misleading, and at best unclear.
When adding a Jabber account, you're presented with two radio buttons,
one of which says create new account and the other reuse an existing
account. This is confusing because, you're creating the
i just remove all jabber accounts, then update empathy today to
2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1 (it is newer than 2.28.1-1ubuntu1 and it is in
karmic-proposed repository), then add jabber accounts and bug has gone.

It seems empathy add parameter param-register=true to every new jabber
account in config file .mission-control/accounts/accounts.cfg
if i edit this file, this parameter will recover on next launch of empathy.
