Dimming and display sleep stop working, on battery power, if brightness had been manually adjusted before. I tried disabling the appropriate bios feature and changing some values in gconf-editor for the gnome- power-manager but dimming's behavior is still confusing in lucid. -- Lucid - Screen

I have a similar issue on an HP Mini 110. The screen does not dim upon switching to battery power and vice-versa. The suggestion above (acpt_backlight=vendor) makes the screen dim when cold booting on battery power, but still the power manager does not change the brightness when going from battery
