[Bug 646034] Re: Peculiar icon display in nautilus
Since no solutions seem to exist I have shifted to Xfce4. Fast, light and no problems. ** Attachment removed: Misaligned icons - no arrangement https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/646034/+attachment/1781014/+files/Screenshot.png ** Attachment removed: Icons not arranged by name as specified https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/646034/+attachment/1781015/+files/Screenshot-Documents%20-%20File%20Browser.png ** Attachment removed: attachment with mis-aligned icon display in nautilus window https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/646034/+attachment/1626926/+files/Screenshot.png ** Attachment removed: Screenshot-normal alignment.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/646034/+attachment/1657558/+files/Screenshot-normal%20alignment.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646034 Title: Peculiar icon display in nautilus -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 646034] Re: Peculiar icon display in nautilus
I request this bug to be re-opened. I had supplied information as required. I also want to report that this problem has surfaced once again. Please see the attached screenshots wherein: 1. In one there is no alignment or proper arrangement of the folder icons. 2. In the other the icons are aligned but icon view does not sort the icons according to name as I want it to. Both problems have no explanation since I have done nothing to change settings. They have happened on their own. Expected behaviour: 1. All icons should be aligned/arranged properly 2. They should be arranged according to the order specified by user (name/size/date whichever) I can't figure this out since it has not happened before. Only seems a 10.04 problem Please re-open this bug or allow me to file a new one with the same report. ** Attachment added: Misaligned icons - no arrangement https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/646034/+attachment/1781014/+files/Screenshot.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646034 Title: Peculiar icon display in nautilus -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 646034] Re: Peculiar icon display in nautilus
Let me attempt a more complete description. I was viewing a folder in Nautilus. This happened to be a network mounted folder mounted via smb4k. I cannot exactly say why it happened, but the entire icon view became misaligned. There is an invisible row-column grid in which icons are placed normally. This causes each icon to be aligned properly on the invisible grid. The attached screenshot will correctly depict what I consider to be normally and properly aligned icons inside a nautilus folder view. Please contrast this with the screenshot I had given earlier where the icons are not aligned at all. The two sceenshots should make it clear as to what I am trying to report.
