[Bug 670283] Re: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one
After the last update, the original problem came back: - as before, profile resets (not controls only sound) if playback is stopped (NOT PAUSED) and started again other problems: - when profiles are switched the sound becomes each time more scrambled - Test speakers does not work -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670283 Title: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 670283] Re: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one
I've installed the alpha version on my computer and after few updates the remaining problems are: - 5.1 output seems not to work correctly (no subwoofer output) , I use 7.1 or 4.0 for better bass atm - when profiles are switched the sound becomes each time more scrambled - output volume and subwoofer are linked (not sure if they supposed to be) - if subwoofer is dragged to near full, high pitch becomes loud -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670283 Title: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 670283] Re: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one
I've tested it and the results are just bizzare! The mentioned behavior is still the same with additional problems: - output volume and subwoofer are linked (not sure if they supposed to be) - balance and fade change both in uncontrolled fashion, if I try to change any of them - when profiles are switched the sound becomes each time more scrambled - as before, profile resets (not controls only sound) if playback is stopped (NOT PAUSED) and started again - if any of balance, subwoofer or fade controls are dragged to near full, high pitch becomes loud On my hardware sound is useless as it almost is on Maverick !!! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670283 Title: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 670283] Re: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Natty Narwhal. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help. ** Changed in: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670283 Title: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 670283] Re: The device profile always defaults to same one instead to selected one
** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-media - When ubuntu is started I can notice that subwoofer does not play in full - strength, if I use Test speakers all speakers work. + When ubuntu is started or any media is played from start, the device + profile always defaults to same one (Analog Surround 5.1 + Analog Stereo + Input - in my case) instead to selected one. So even if you open a media + file mp3 for example with Banshee, it will start playing with default - + Analog Surround 5.1 + Analog Stereo Input (in my case) and if you change + the profile while playing the sound will change. If you stop and start + playing again, the sound changes back to default profile, but a + different selected profile stays selected in Sound Preferences. - The switch to any other profilere is a big change in subwoofer volume - for any media player when I switch between profiles: - - - on start: subwoofer tests ok, but if I play music it is more silent (selected profile: Analog Surround 5.1 Output) - - switch to any other profile: the settings change as they should - - switch back to previous profile (Analog Surround 5.1 Output) subwoofer gets a lot louder 1) Ubuntu 10.10 2 gnome-media: - Installed: 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 - Candidate: 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 - Version table: - *** 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 0 - 500 http://si.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages - 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status + Installed: 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 + Candidate: 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 + Version table: + *** 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 0 + 500 http://si.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status - 3) Load profile and volumes correctly at start - 4) Loads correct profile and volumes only if you switch between profiles manualy + 3) When playback is started the sound always plays as the default profile in Sound Preferences (Analog Surround 5.1 + Analog Stereo Input - in my case). + 4) When playback is started the sound should reflect the selected profile in Sound Preferences.
