I can't reproduce this on Natty. Which version of Ubuntu are you using and which theme? I currently run Gedit 2.30.2 (latest stable release) compiled from source in Ubuntu 11.10 and I don't have this problem now. Actually, the button image is the same but it is cut off in different ways: on the right side for an active tab and on all sides for an inactive tab (making it look smaller). The problem is that the button padding is too large and there seem to be no simple way to modify it, or have I missed something?
