Also confirmed this issue in precise. We have two solutions - 1. Make sure g-s-d check idle-dim-* settings in gconf (gnome-control-center screen) org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power idle-dim-ac true org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power idle-dim-battery true 2. The 2 solution to fix gnome-session will caused screensaver never be actived. The UI design of gnome-control-center screen is very confuseing * Dim screen to save power changed idle-dim-battery (GSD_POWER_IDLE_MODE_DIM) * Turn screen off when inactive changed sleep-display-ac and sleep-display-battery. (GSD_POWER_IDLE_MODE_BLANK) Both are not interrelated after all.
