The notification area holds more than just the wireless icon (e.g.
volume indicator, bittorrent status information, etc). So, the name and
icon are correct for what the applet does.
Perhaps adding the name of the applet being removed to the "Remove from
Panel" menu item could be a solution?

I just tried to suspend by closing the lid and it failed again. I had to

My Machine is an Ubuntu 8.04 system recently upgraded from 7.10 and I'm
also having this problem. I have installed gvfs-bin and ran the
requested command. It simply completed without any message.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on "channel list" - I meant the list of all
channels (Network->Channels in XChat-Gnome) - that's got a cleaner
search interface than XChat's all-channel listing.

I've just tried the Dapper Flight6 LiveCD, and if you take the lower panel up
to 26px high (the default is still 24px) you get app icons back... Very odd
regression.

I just upgraded to KDE 3.5.2, and I noticed my computer was getting less
