Used the hal backport (which appears to be the most recent) and it is still reporting all disks as empty, or not detecting them at all. I was able to successfully install Feisty Fawn with the DVD drive, but it still fails to detect the discs that are inserted. I tested this with the kernel from

Volume seems to be affected by 3 controls only 1 of them is accessible through Totem. There is also a main volume control on the taskbar by the date/time on the desktop (in Windows it'd be called the 'System Tray' i think). Finally there is PCM volume control but i don't know how to access it.

I like this way of quickly muting the sound when the phone goes or something. Also you don't need to see the slider to adjust the volume, and that's great for me too. All i do is use the mouse wheel when the mouse arrow is over the speaker/volume icon. Ideally i'd like the mouse wheel to change
