I also have this issue with evince 2.32.0 on Ubtuntu 10.10. I have uploaded a sample dvi and eps file from a standard tex document distributed by The Optical Society of America. On my system this causes the unpredictable behaviour of either fatal error -100 or Seg fault as mentioned above. The same happens to me. It occur when opening DVI files, PS and PDF ok.
