If Ubuntu is going to switch to Thunderbird as the default mail client in Oneiric, I think we either need to remove the Online Accounts capplet, or include the necessary infrastructure to allow Thunderbird to link to Google contacts and calendars. Otherwise, it just appears broken when a user adds their Google Account information and nothing happens in Thunderbird. Thanks for the response, Seb. I guess the real bug here then is in populating the dialog box to be more intuitive that an account needs to be added. I think this uncovers a design issue in Ubuntu. We now have three different ways of configuring user accounts: * Messaging and VoIP Accounts - Empathy accounts. * Online Accounts - Evolution / Empathy. * User Accounts - system accounts. We also have Broadcast Accounts available to be configured in Gwibber, but this is not exposed in the System Settings and Email can't be configured outside of apps (e.g. Thunderbird). thanks, that's just what the GNOME guys did this cycle, it let you configure google account and let evolution, empathy etc use those for email, contacts, calendar.
