Making djalfie's file an actual patch. Dear all, I confirm I have exactly same symptoms. I confirm also that patch is working for me. in addition, the file is distributed inside gnome-applet-data. The applet.pyc is not part of the package. I am not sure, but it may be generated during package install ?? Please update repository.
