have removed pulseaudio, but now there are no sound with or without it.

The issue here is a bug in the bq27541 fuel gauge driver. The
get_property() function is not thread-safe, but reentry is possible in
several different scenarios.
The attached patch fixes this issue by protecting get_property() via a
mutex.

does not appear to support HDMI at all, so any system with only an HDMI
monitor effectively cannot have Ubuntu manually installed on it. Oddly,

1. Start up into Ubuntu.
2. Log in to a normal account.
3. From the system menu, choose Guest Session.
What happens:
1. Ubuntu starts up correctly.
2. The login screen and Ubuntu session work fine.
3. The screen goes black for about 30 seconds.
4. The screen flickers wildly,
