Not every hardware works with touch and a mouse is still hugely
used. But if a mouse module is builtin the kernel, setting custom
choices/needs is a real nightmare. Gpointing-device-settings cant solve
all the issues, specially the drag problem.

the same problem. Most probably there is going something wrong in HPLIP,
therefore I have assigned this bug to HPLIP, both the Ubuntu package and
the upstream project at HP.

I agree with you Max, and we shouldn't have to get used to it.
@Bilal Empathy and xchat are quite different. Xchat is just an IRC
client and when you go there you expect IRC windows to be opened when
you join a particular room. Empathy, on the other hand has a general
log in to all IM channels

I came across another fix, when changing the greeter stopped working.
For those who removed Unity, removing it sometimes uninstalls unity-
greeter and reinstalling it installs a whole lot of stuff some of which
fixed my low resolution issue. For some reason the other greeters don't

Incorrect
My fix being reinstalling unity-greeter. It installs a whole lot of
stuff, one of which surely fixed my low resolution issue. For some
reason I can't list the other greeters in lightdm.conf as doing so gives
a low resolution message. So I'm stuck with unity-greeter, but at least
I can run lightdm
It may be worth approaching the guy who did it for pidgin.
An alternative might be to write a shim library so that pidgin plugins
would work with empathy.

As the title says: when Transmission is running, it's icon does not

LibreOffice on OSX seems to be using fontconfig-2.8.0. Both Ubuntu
Quantal and Raring use newer versions. So a solution might be updating

I am using 4.0.2.2 on both OSX and Ubuntu 12.10, I will try your
suggestion for OSX and let you know if it helps.
Understand regarding the prioritisation, I wasn't sure how to categorise
