Did 'sudo chmod 700 /usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel' and it had no effect.
Did 'sudo chmod 777 /usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel' and the Ubuntu Cups works
perfectly.
I have one printer with USB that works fine.
I have one parallel printer which now works fine thank
I have tested the same on another notebook and it's just working fine.
So this bug is something hardware-specific.
My notebook on which it doesn't work is a Dell Vostro 131 (Core i5-2,

Actually - nvidia-prime seems less likely now that I read gpu-manager
code. It's a "new" tool for upgrades, and consequently would run it's
enable_nvidia routine the first boot.
It checks how many cards are in the system, and if it only finds 1,

it reported that there was a card in the system; third 'No'.

Window decorations (close / minimize / maximize buttons) do not draw on
the external monitor on a laptop with external display. Windows on the

BIOS option that does "Power on if card is present" vs "Always powered
on". If the BIOS option is switched to "Always powered on" these
messages are not present.

i am affected too. it was there after the install; but disappeared after
booting.
tried nm-applet; did not reappear.
deleted the indicator plug in form the panel and re-added it. now, its back.
