Instead of opening the link in a new tab, Firefox opens a new empty

The flipping in the terminal seems to be at the same speed as the cursor blink.
I only noticed it in gnome terminal. xterm does not exhibit the problem.

Sooo, any update to when this will be fixed? It's gone past the point of
being inconvenient to frustrating!
As this is the current default download for Ubuntu from the official site I'd
expect a much better response than has been provided...

The problem is related to electrical interference from the power supply

I don't think I ever experienced the artifacts in #269904, and if I did,
it was a long time ago and not with this machine. I hope I won't start
experiencing them now ;-)
