This bug is still present. xdpyinfo reports always 96x96 dpi resulting
in wrong screen dimensions and incorrect scaling.
$ xdpyinfo | grep -B2 resolution
screen #0:
dimensions:3840x2160 pixels (1016x571 millimeters)
resolution:96x96 dots per inch
however, xrandr is right;
$ xrandr |

As of 2015-01-05, the issue still stands (see attached PDF printout).
The added text seems to be the control's 'label' text. Emptying all
'label' properties, seems a good workaround.
Still, the handling of PDF control 'labels' differs from screen an PS.

Fontconfig doesn't know whether the text is being rendered to an LCD screen

a printer, so fontconfig needs to be told subpixel order and whether

I guess this kind of config is
never enabled by default and should simply leave it to the desktop
preferences.
You would hope so, but some distribution(s) where enabling these by default.
Hopefully they have stopped doing that now.
