N, please don't mark this as invalid. This is the most annoying
notification on my wonderful Gnome desktop. It is so premature. First

Disabling 'desktop icons' from the extensions app fixes this for me.
Once disabled, even just the action of clicking on the toggle in the
extensions app has the same effect, the desktop becomes unresponsive
(though the mouse moves) for about 30 seconds, then finally the
bionic verification:

I'm seeing something very similar.
Did a fresh install of 20.04 a week ago.
After being logged in half a day things really start slowing down.
Alt+Tab takes a few seconds to pop up, then you tab through to e.g. an
open Calculator instance and that takes 8 seconds to come to the
foreground.

DNS server from vpn connection is not being used after
ok thanks that worked a treat.
Running snap directly there was a progress indicator so i could see that
snap downloads are very very very slow. 200kb/s. I'm on a a basic
residential 100Mbits fibre line, so apt downloading deps from the ubuntu
mirror is usually quick, 10MB/s. So the snap
ok after 20 mins i abort again. snap reports the following

Thanks! Could you check the rfkill code, also? I think instead of
patching the testcase, it would be better fix rfkill so the change is
effective as soon as it returns; that way users won't experience this
and have to add their own sleep after calling rfkill.

This just happened again (on 73.0+build3-0ubuntu1) and I've noticed that
the issue appears to apply _per window_. So if I launch Firefox and
this is happening, then I can open a new window and, provided I don't
open any websites, the menus function correctly (to allow me to disable
Strict
hornetster, this is a bug specifically for Ubuntu, so it's unlikely
anyone reading it will be able to help you. I would suggest filing a
bug upstream, or perhaps asking a question in Stack Overflow (or

This is acceptable to me, so I start the upgrade process. Partway
