I'm getting this issue. Ubuntu 13.04, 64 bit, using Spotify.
Media controls work in the dropdown when you click the audio icon in the
top bar, but pressing the media keys on my Logitech G510 shows the
circle sign and does nothing.
Volume and mute work fine.

windows-workaround in CCSM fixes this.
I'm not sure if that should be turned on by default or if my
configuration was just *that* non-standard. Either way, this is enough
