I managed to get the card back with pulseaudio:
- logout of desktop session/xrdp
- systemctl restart xrdp
- unplug usb sound card from Ubuntu (this is not a usb redirection issue)
- login to xrdp
- run pulseaudio-dlna python script (not sure if it's related but was running
previously for dlna, c

The secondary display is actually my laptop's internal monitor, the
primary display is an external monitor. If I close the laptop lid and so
disconnect the laptop's monitor I think that moving the position of the
dock works normally with a single display so this is a dual monitor
related bug.

I have a two monitor set-up with four workspaces on the primary display
and an additional workspace on the secondary display. I normally have an
application running in each workspace.
If I open Settings | Dock | Position on screen and change the setting
from 'Left' to 'Bottom
I can confirm this as twice I've had difficulties logging in after
waking from sleep and once after a 40 minute period of the screen being
locked while I was away from the PC. This is using Wayland.

Igor, I'm responding as someone also affected by this issue. Using the
command you gave in comment #25 I saw that both pulseaudio and pipewire
were using the same audio device(s).
I used the command 'sudo systemctl disable --global pipewire' to disable
pipewire and deleted the ~/.config/pulse/ dir
Nima, I thought it best to ask than to close just in case you still saw
a problem *related* in any way to the one that you saw while using the
Trusty release.
So, I'll close this as "Invalid" as the issue was never confirmed by
another user and the Trusty release in now EOL.
