Mmmm, gents, I was looking at the last screenshot of my output settings and had a hunch. I decided to move the output volume to about 75% and still had no sound. I moved it to about 80% and still no sound. I moved it to 100% and bingo, there was sound! Why would there be no sound at levels

It means you should try the workaround suggested in bug 946232 Specifically: For those of you who are missing a speaker port, edit /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-speaker.conf and comment out all lines that start with required-any. If the workaround is successful, this bug
