telepathy-idle 0.1.17 has been released and despite the comment in the
upstream bug report about the fix being included in 0.1.18, the change
log of 0.1.17 includes the fix as a change for this release. What is
needed to get the package updated to this new release for Ubuntu?

The issue has been fixed upstream in git for 0.1.18. Hopefully it will
be released soon so it can be included in 13.10 or can we expect an
update for 13.04 as well?

A temporary workaround is downgrading to 0.1.12.
You can download it from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/telepathy-idle.
Choose one of the two, depending on your architecture:
-
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/telepathy-idle_0.1.12-1ubuntu0.1_amd64.deb
-
It appears to only occur when I connect to freenode with a password.
When connecting to gimpnet the issue does not occur. As soon as I
disable the freenode account the problem stops. As soon as I enable it
again, even if it's the only account, the problem occurs again.
